Yea Sasha is a huge cokehead... i thought that was common knowledge

When he played @ the Guvernment in Toronto in 2002, he was such shiet. Probably the worst set i've ever heard in my life.

You probably read this on the GU13 insert. It was in Ibiza. They found him passed out on the beach with a bottle of Jaeger in his hand.

Apparantly some of his "close friends" have said he isnt a coke head, he's just a heavy drinker (holic) Probably bullshit though.

being passed out in a ditch, asleep, is a highly unlikely side effect of cocaine.

You are right.. he wasn't necessarilty doing coke that night, however.

EDIT: or he was just really high on coke and it appeared that he was sleeping b/c he was just lying there in a euphoric state (when I do coke, I prefer to lie down and enjoy it). Could explain why he got up so quickly and was able to spin a set (would've been hard if he was super-drunk).

well i like how this has turned into the several millionth DJ drug thread...but ill get out some stories ive collected - mostly due to class DJs and my stupidly hilarious friends...

FIrst story arc begins with Max Graham in the summer of 2k1 i believe...(yes some of these stories have similar characters and themes)

He was scheduled to play in Denver and at Red Rocks Ampetheatre within perhaps a month of each other. Coincidences short, we all knew we had to go see him at the club since seeing him at RR would be completely different - and since Maxy wasnt the biggest name back then we knew hed throw down and the place wouldnt be uber crowded. Now this club (at the time had their DJ booth elevated perhaps only 1m off the ground, so you could chat with the DJs in the down time and whatnot. Needless to say my friend Bahnsand isnt much for 'downtime'. We were reasonably tipsy when he first went up to mg to say whats up. He went back several more times and I went with him once - perhaps to Grahams chagrin. He was amicable throughout the whole ordeal luckily...we harassed him about his badass beats and made sure he would be back for the RR show - but thats just the beginning...

about 3 mos later I hear that he will be back in Denver again, even though I am now back in school, outside of Colorado. I hear from the party report that Bahnsand was haranguing Maxy again, to not so amicable results. Apparently - in a quest to hear the Live Mix of the Hybrid track on transport 4 my friend had repeatedly harassed the DJ to the effect of 'HEYYY MAXZ! YOO ROCK!! CAN YOU PLAYT THAT ONE HYBRID SONG!!!@' To which Max can only ask - 'Which Hybrid song?'

'YOUO KNOW!! THAT ONE!!'

This all in all leads up to perhaps Dave Bahnsands greatest escapade, yet in a positive light.

Needless to say the club in Denver moved the Dj booth to an upper balcony shortly after this summer, but directly after we went to see Sander K. They had recently remodeled - but had left a rickety ladder in place so the DJs could change, pee and whatnot - for the entire show...

The problem was, they only guarded the ladder during the main change and at the end...therefore Dave had the opportunity of harassing Sander...

I am not one to avow that harassing DJs during their set is a great idea, most respond positively - or wait until they have the opportunity to chat (as SK and MG had usually done) But the sight of my drunk ass friend scaling a POS ladder in the middle of a packed club with no staff doing anything to stop him was a sight. And when he shouted 'HEYY SANDERR!' Sander simply set up his mixes for the next couple of songs and then ended up chatting with him - teetering on top of the ladder. It was totally ace as while this story ended happily as after chatting Sander asked if he had a request. Luckily Dave had gotten Hybrid out of his system, and while I had been coaching him to ask for My Lexicon if he went up he simply shouted 'PLAY SOMTHINE YOO WROTE! SOME OF YOUR SHIT!'

Luckily enough about 6 songs later the into to Lexi came on and it was sublime. Perhaps this isnt a hilarious story of coke binges and puking DJs, but it does show off a couple of my faves and some decently silly situations|

Nice. Gotta love the Church's ladder guarding policy! Do you know Max well, Colin? We tried to book him through his agency and they didn't even respond. The offer may have been low, but it seems interesting that they didn't even respond. They might be screwin him over a bit.

I remember hearing this someplace on TA a while back...

Sasha was playing a gig in '88 I think and he gets into this record, and he is so into it he jumps down from the booth and starts dancing with the crowd... except he forgets he is the DJ and just keeps dancing... then the record ends and starts spinning around the inner groove and Sasha starts yelling that the DJ sucks and stuff, and everyone is looking at him when he realizes he is the DJ and quickly ascends to the decks and puts on another record.

WTF.... lol
