A nice surprise was the default page pointing to:

http://www.google.com/firefox

Maybe Durafei can tell us a little bit more about that?

Well, that was no surprise to me

What are you trying to do? Save money?

Go out a buy yourself a stick of ram and let it rip. WTF cares about 60k or 100k or even 20 MB of memory. With memory so cheap there is no reason to not have a whack.

Microsoft should use that as their new motto (with your permission of course!) in their new ads:
what are you trying to do? Save money? our products make your system sucky and slow? who gives a rat's ass? go buy more memory!
and remember ..."With memory so cheap there is no reason to not have a whack!"

RJ - I'm not sure if you are aware, but there is such a thing as Virtual Memory.. Meaning - when data in RAM isn't used for a while, Windows swaps it to hard drive, and then, when requested that data is brought up from disk to RAM(slow process). That explains why if you open an application, but then don't use it for a while, it takes a few seconds when you finally open that application's window again.

So there is a benefit to having applications with smaller memory footprint - they run faster !

I know exactly what you're talking about.

However in the day of ddr2 memory and super fast-spin hdds with large cache's - saving 20k, 40k, 100k or 20 MB doesn't matter.

We're not talking 500 MB image files here, we're talking about a friggin' browser app....
