its not SUPER important to read one than the other.. they're their own stories... but they just have SOME points that follow in the 2nd book that are helpful. not huge tho

Great thread! I just finished reading Stranger than Fiction (or Non-Fiction as it is named in some countries) by Chuck Palahniuk. I really like his fiction novels a lot (he wrote Fight Club and Choke along with some other brilliant novels)
Now I have started reading Vurt by Jeff Noon for like the fifth time because I haven't made it to the book store lately to pick up anything new.

I have also read Angels and Demons and DaVinci Code, and while they were both pretty entertaining easy reading, I was a little dissapointed in the similarities between the two. I mean it is basically the same story with a few different characters in a different setting. Pretty good, but Dan Brown seems like a bit of a one trick pony.

yeah totally, the first book i read i was super impressed, by the 2nd book i noticed the similarity in style within a couple of chapters... the ending had bits and pieces of twists in them but still.. i get what youre saying

I'm really glad I read them both anyway...interesting subject matter and point of view in each, they made me think... which is always good

I think a lot of it will be determined on who the director is... and its Wolfgang Peterson. The last movie he did was Troy, which I haven't seen, but from the reviews it would appear to be a stinker.

However Wolfgang also did Das Boot which is phenomenal and Enemy Mine which I thought was great.

hmm i thought troy was pretty good all in all...havent seen the other movies you mentioned

yeah it all depends on the director, but with todays technology its also down to who's behind the computers for the special effects.
i know lots of the story will be cut out, which will make me really angry, but i hope they dont change the general story too much

i hated timeline the movie, but the book was awesome. hated the new harry potter movie (3rd one) but once again the book was awesome - just too long with too much information to make into a short enough movie for kids to watch.


we'll see i guess. 2006, man, thats a long way away.

exactly. it doesnt hurt to have your own opinion rather than to "think" dan brown is an amazing writer from just one book...or something silly.

i find that the only author (that i've read more than 2 books of), that switches it up a lot is john grisham. his books are all based on lawyers..yes, but they're all different in their own way. none of that cookie cutter writing.
I guess Orson Scott card as well, even though the book I read was the same story but from two different perspectives. I'll have to read the rest of the Ender sega to trully have an opinion...

well i will read Dostoievski 's "The Idiot" again (i just found it on Ebay), this book is one of the best i have ever read...Polish girl you should read some of Dostoievski books, at least "Crime & Punishment"
