They sure are rural rednecks. These cities are pretty much just gigantic suburbs with no sense of culture. Dallas? Phoenix? Memphis? Come on!!!

Start talking Los Angeles (sprawling yes but at least has culture), New York, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco and Washington and Boston and maybe ill listen. You can keep El paso and Tulsa and their worldliness thank you.

Jayx1 has a definite point here... my guess for the 10 most influential and important states in the US are:

1) California
2) New York
3) Texas
4) Illinios
5) DC
6) Michigan
7) Connecticut
8) Ohio
9) Massachusetts
10) Florida

Kerry won 7 of them outright, Bush won 1, and Florida/Ohio were close enough to call it 1/2-1/2

What's even more amusing is that Kerry won DC by about 90% to 10%. So Bush ends up having to live in a state where only 1/10 of the people actually voted for him.

What really puts Bush over the top is the evangelical vote... alot of the states I saw had Bush beating Kerry by a 75 - 25 margin on that vote, and its estimated around 40% of the population considers themselves evangelical.

Actually, your conclusion is incorrect and it's shown clearly be the discrepancy in the exit polls. Kerry counted on the "young voters" to bring in the votes, and so did a lot of the Liberal reporters, and hence they didn't poll the young voters as they left the stations. Turned out that many more of the youth voters than the media expected actually voted for Bush.

Sure, the tension of the situation might have brought out a few evangelists, but it really brought out the youth vote in droves, and even the Liberal media networks have admitted that the Democrats were overconfident about the youth vote and that Bush actually took a lot of support from them.

Besides, Florida and Ohio were close but so were a lot of those other states you listed (Florida and Ohio were the only close ones with bush in the lead, yes). DC is also not a state. Besides, you go ahead and call the southern states redneck states, I'll refer to the likes of California and Massachusetts as liberal airhead states.

Totally agree. I've lived in some of the states mentionned. Even the upper class population in some of those cities (or small towns) in the southern states could qualify as 'rednecks', unless you have a better name for people who still think having the confederacy flag planted in front of their house is a way of showing patriotism.
Just because certain people make more money, it doesn't necessarily mean they're not ignorant or less likely to be influenced by bible-thumping and Bush-praising idiots around them. Some of the people i stayed with when i lived in Tennessee were definitely not part of the poorer population there but were heavily influenced by the church which, need i mention, is heavily pro-Bush.

Same applies to Canada and Bush-bashing, except 500% more. It's so routine here that there are people who honestly don't think they could possibly be offending anyone by saying "only an idiot would vote for/support Bush."

Just as there are the evangelists who spread Bush-love, there are the Michael Moore worshippers who spread Bush-hate.
