Hmmmm ... I read about this and this is what I know.
First of all, the Wal-Mart is not located NEAR the Mexican Pyramid, but some distance away - the whole problem is, that the villagers dont want to see the friggin WAL-MART from the Pyramid! I mean, come on ... what a lame excuse - they dont want to see signs of capitalism from their ancient structure. Oh, and by the way, the Pyramid (the Mexican one) does not represent PHARAOHS or OPRESSION, OR WHATEVER you want to call it. Aztecs were very spiritual people, and they build their pyramids as a place of worship, burial or for the use of their amazingly perfect solar calendar.
Those villagers (where the Pyramid is located) are poor, and Wal-Mart will bring jobs, economy and lower prices that they can afford. Its just some villagers were whining about the fact that capitalism is "invading" their holy village.
As for my opinions or my talk about corporations/capitalism on this topic - no comment.
