Not to mention these people live in beautiful homes practically rent-free; talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

It doesnt matter who was there first. When you live in a city you accept the fact that there will be city noises. If you want the peace and quiet of the countryside, then move there.

Same thing with the store incident. Dont live in a mixed residential/commercial area if the commercial aspect of it bothers you.

I think the first quote of my tagline applies to this thread.

Hmmmm.....I thought your a self proclaimed conservative....doesn't that mean that you support your right to whine? Yet you say govt should stay out of your private life? You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Those fucktards that you are referring to are your conservative croonies. So be careful how you treat them. They are your next meal ticket. The moment you forget that, is when you become part of the problem too.

Maybe it's time to realize that this is an overcrowded city.....and that you need to change with it too...oh, and perhaps it's also time to learn some tolerance and empathy...then maybe things will look better to you as the years move on.

Are you actually expecting someone out there to read this and think that any of it makes sense?

All I can deduce from this twaddle is that you think:
a) Political conservatives are the only people who whine (false)
b) Total strangers who complain about unimportant matters are the ones putting food on Jay's table (incredibly false)
c) Tolerance and empathy will solve this problem (so unbelievably and obviously false I don't even know where to begin, except to say that these self-righteous buzzwords have done nothing but harm to our society)

Also, if you actually attempt to apply any logic to the situation (which I know is difficult for you), you'd realize that when a person whines and shows the desire to restrict the behaviour of other people, they are acting patently un-Conservative. While Jay's whining does get tiresome, at least he doesn't try to blow the old "the government should step in and tell us what we can and can't do" smoke up our asses. THAT tiresome behaviour is reserved for Canadian Liberals.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that this guy's arguments substitute prejudicial language ("conservative croonies") and hackneyed clichés ("You can't have your cake and eat it too" / "They are your next meal ticket") in place of actual substance? You can't just string together various pieces of emotionally-charged drivel and call it an argument - jesus, that's worse than Michael Moore, at least he makes an *attempt* to include *some* facts.

I hate living in Toronto. Too many ignorant people in confined space. Too many rude, discourteous people.

Small cities are the way to go. At least people are more friendly there and don't bitch as much. (And the air's a bit cleaner)

You go anywhere out the driving range of Toronto and anyone will tell you that Torontonians think they are the center of the universe and swear that if you could spin Canada like a plate on the stick, Toronto would be the pivot point...
(Disclaimer: I know not all Toronto people are like that, there are LOTS of cool people in Toronto that I've met. It's just a previous outside observation I've made )

dude where have you been all these years.

TORONTO *IS* THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE!!

blah, blah, blah.....What ? you don't like your own double talk.

Listen up boy genius......Unlike you, my life does not revolve around arguing and complaining. Life is too short. Learn some tolerance and empathy so that you can actually change your negative perspective.

Oh and since you couldn't figure out what my opinion was, I'll elaborate it for you in layman terms...

"It's a big city and it's changing. Nothing ever stays the same....so you should change with it....and find a positive way to resolve your issues, rather than act like a bitter grumpy old whining person"
maybe some anger management courses would help...since it sounds like that's the direction your going to

End of discussion. Now stop with the angry immature comebacks and just have a nice day.

You are right. People do need to learn some tolerence and respect. This is exactly why I'm complaining. People have no tolerence for others anymore. This is why they complain when they talk outside their window, complain when they move over a business and the business conducts normal activities, complain about trains after buying next to a railway track or complain about the city when they live on an island across the water from it.

If these people learned tolerence for others in a confined space and stopped trying to act as if they were the only ones around for miles then maybe things would get a little easier. People make noise. It's their nature. Im not talking excessive noise here. I'm talking about sounds that various things in a city make. My answer is clear. If you dont like the city and its noises, move to the country.

OH yeah and it's Liberals who complain and whine the most. And shockingly its Liberals who try their best to control you. Wasn't it the conservative government that extended last call till 2?

YOu are right though, hard right conservatives do try and tell you what to do but so do hard left communists.

I'll end by saying that all i ever hear is how Toronto wants to be a world class city. Well folks, world class means a vibrant city and a vibrant city means noise. Until the world class whining ends we will never be a world class city. ANd overcrowded? LOL!!! All i ever see in Toronto is a lot of wasted space. We are far from being overcrowded.

And yes I complain quite a bit but again you have to understand the nature of it. I'm generally a fun loving person who tried to enjoy life. However, all i ever see are people trying to tell me that what i enjoy is wrong or some how offends them for some reason. This is why i get so angry about it. While im quite an easy going guy, im no pacifist.

Jayx1.....Don't take me wrong....I'm not against you or your need to vent out your frustrations...It's ok not to be a pacifist

I do empathize with your situation. And I understand your plight.

It is a shame that things have gotten so bad in TO....however, where we differ is that I see the City as overcrowded right now....people are just stepping on each others toes and getting upset over the slightest thing like a little noise while they are watching tv. It's an adjustment period and many people just don't know how to handle the changes. but you should be careful b/c thier bad habits do start to rub off on you....and before you know it....you've joined the ranks of the many bitter people.

On the politiks stuff...both Liberal and Conservatives complain ...but we have to stop that now. IMO we need to learn how to collaborate towards a solution---not continue pointing fingers and whining in circles....that is how we can make Canada better....the end.

I insist. Toronto is not overcrowded at all. In fact i find it quite dead at times. Lots of empty space. Overcrowded cities wouldnt have acres of dead space next to the CN tower or acres of unused land that are the portlands and the old distillery district. Overcrowded areas would not consist of detached residential housing. What makes it seem overcrowded is a complete lack of planning. Not only do roads not get built, but the ones that are are becoming more and more car unfriendly. And transit service is severely lacking for a city our size.

The problem is not overcrowding. its a mentality that life should revolve around a person's whims. There are too many squeaky wheels and not enough oil. As was said earlier people here want it both ways.

They want the peace and quiet of the country but the conveniences of the city. You cant have both unless you spend 10s of thousands on sound proofing your apartment/house but by that point id ask "whats the point"?
