A friend sent me it via ICQ over phone modem (56k), around 1997-1998. Was a 128 kbit encode. I was "blown away" by its encode quality back then!

Also sent me my first copy of Winamp about the same time.

man oh man! i remember joining an mp3 chatroom on irc & dissing them saying shit like "why download music? that's what radio's for!!!"

so i decided i'd see what the hype was about & downloaded some song by jewel "i was meant for you"


then when i relized i could get the albums BEFORE they came out, and could get good dance music from europe, i became an addicted whore
