In case you don't know, Koud_Pils, progressive is a trance variant, but totally different from epic trance. Second, you can't classify a DJ by what he played two years ago, DJs evolve...

About Epic trance producing... Ferry Corsten doesn't all the time. His System F productions might be a little, but traxx like his remix for Marc et Claude (I need your lovin for example) is nowhere near Epic. Just to point out that it's not only Epic trance Dutch DJs produce... same goes for Tiesto and Armin btw

Peace

Epic trance in most ppl's definition is a type of popular, uplifting trance. Songs that exemplify this genre, (I think) would be Gouryella, and Communication. They are epic because they are uplifting and commandingly powerful. Epic trance isnt bad trance, its just stereotypical, formulaic trance. And dutch dj's cant seem to get away from that, mostly because of popular demand. marco v's "luvstruck" is no exception, neither is anything by armin or tiesto.. or ferry for that matter.

Well put, ambrus07! I agree fully on the thing about the epic-trance (which isn't bad) being a kind of trap for trance-producers from Holland. It's such a shame, cause think what these, obviously talented, producers could do if they broadened their horizon.

Well, I didn't say that I saw Tiesto only 2 years ago, the last time was 2 months ago, I fallow DJ's many years now so I see what's changes.

Every style is a part of the 'House' or some called 'Dance'
scene, and many styles are based on eachother, you can't say their is one Trance or one techno.
But Progressive is started to become his own style.

I just wanted to add a few names to your list of Dutch dj's.

The first two are known for their 'in trance we trust' mixes:
-Misjah Helsloot (or Dj Misjah)
-Cor Fijnenberg
-Michel de Heij (although not my favourite)
-Marc van Dale
-Joost van Bellen (although 2step, not trance)

And somebody mentioned that Dutch dj's where affraid of experimenting. I do agree, but of course there are exceptions to this rule. Marco V and Sander Kleinenberg are the names I'm thinkin' about...
