and used to be really good friends with his girlfriend.

I actually met and hung out with the guy who died in this freak accident - his gf was a good friend of mine who I worked with for 3 years.

Phil, his name, was a good guy, and I just learned this was him that died by calling him and his girl up (my friend) only to find out he was dead. I haven't talked to them in about 9 months now.

When Philip Quinn found out his lava lamp wouldn't heat anymore, did he just give up like a little bitch?

Hell no, Philip Quinn was no pussy! He did the right thing, he worked through adversity and heated up the lamp. Philip Quinn is a modern day martyr; a symbol for those of us who may be tempted to "throw in the towel" and throw something away and follow the ways of an over-consuming society.

Don't ridicule Philip Quinn for what he did, rather admire his bold, and unfortunately fatal, move against the monotony of our society. If only we could all be as brave as Philip Quinn and be willing to die for what we stand for.

including the stunt he pulled when his arm almost got ripped off a couple of years back... but he bounced back. just sorry to see him gone - for ever.
