For those of you wondering how it went:
It was really hyped up, it was supposed to be a good show. I only got there after RITM started, but was standing outside for a while waitin for a friend to come. The music I heard outside was great. The venue was more out on the middle of nowhere than say venues downtown or even Marketplace Austin. BUT the crowd never got fired up, the lighting/soundsystem just wasnt quite the best. The lighting was good but never was variable enough or high energy. I loved the green lasers on the left side of the stage but it wasnt enough. Then when it started to get good, police intervened, made them turn the music volume down which I think was a huge factor in the crowd not 'feeling' it. after that it was all downhill, RITM couldnt compensate although I do think it was partially their fault, they seemed unprepared and the mix messed up a few times. It really was a waste of the $20 or so for the ticket. I think law enforcement just caused the crowd and the show to lame up. What a waste.....although I really hope it doesnt discourage RITM to do another show in Austin. I bet they wouldn't want to though. |
Dude are you out of your fucking mind... just because you didn't have fun didn't mean the other 800 people in there weren't having a blast.. you might have wanted to take your blinders off but most people were dancing, laughing and having a good time... you seem to be the only person on at least 10 message boards that had anything negative to say...
the lights and sound were adequate for that type of building.. we had 12 fixtures in all .. plus 3 projectors and lasers.. and 4 stacks of EAW sound with extra sidefull mid and top range... If you wanted more than that please feel free to get some and bring it to the party next time.. we spent nearly 13,000$ on that party... had to change venues with 4 DAYS notice.. weren't allowed to pass out our maps but for an hour before being harrassed and threatened to be arrested by the APD at the other venue... had travis county sherriffs show up 9 times, give us a niose complaint ticket from a person who called form a half MILE away.. TABC showed up and gave the bar aticket.. hell even the building inspector showed up and found nothing wrong but he showed up to shut the party down cause someone called him... the SWAT team were gearing up at the other vneue to come and shut us down at least 10 truckloads.. but the travis county sherriffs said they had it under control.. had we not had all those probems.. mainly the ones with the old venue not letting us tell people where the party was.. we might have broke even instead of losing 3000$..
there were alot of behind the scene things going on to even have that party.. and for you to come on to this message baord and bash our hard efforts to create something like that under so much pressure and scrutiny is totally bullshit...
Did you talk to Bunny?
how would you know whether or not he would come to do another show.. HE LOVED IT.. he thought it was the true underground old school shit.. as a matter of fact after the ARK fiasco he wasn't giing to come to austin ever agian, and we just opened the door again...
i'm not going to say you shouldn't have your own opinion.. but man you need to know what we had to go through to even have that party before you start talking shit about it...
next time you want a party that might live up to your expectations , please feel free to pull 13,000$ out of your ass and throw your own party.. I just hope you have to deal with all the shit we did to have that event...The i can come on here and critique your party, So you might know how it feels to have someone talk shit about something you worked hard for...
