First, let me respond to the posts. DA, inhaling tobacco is definitely something you shouldn't do . Phil, great point, and I also agree about the shape factor. "...and the Brain-Brain, Brain-Brain, brain-brain...." LOL!! Nurse Ratchet... C'mon Cynthia, don't act elementary- cornbread is made with corn, that one is easily understood, not b/c of the crumbles. Being crumbly is a function of how much binding agent is used (eggs). El Profesor, I like the lesson plan, and I appreciate the mentioning of the English muffin, brings up an interesting dilemna with my argument... perhaps their use of the word muffin is just a difference in dialect. Scott, size is relative, muffin is still a muffin, I agree.
On the issue at hand, normally I'd say you're right, after all a woman should listen to her man, but Leann has you on this one. It would make a cake!! A muffin, like a cupcake (muffin with icing on it), always has a crinkled paper wrapper around the bottom, and EVERY MUFFIN HAS A MUFFIN TOP! The lesson here: If you have English muffin batter made, don't bake it into a cake.

small cake people...so if you were to put muffin mix in a cake pan it would be either a muffin bread loaf or a muffin cake...enlarged.

What makes a muffin a muffin is the mix...not the pan.

the only reason people think otherwise is because they were brought up with the idea that everything is how it is because it's how it's always been...erm no though. Not true. If there were to be no specific pan for a muffin you guys would think a muffin would come in any shape/size as cookies do...cookie cutters take the shape from the cookies when supposedly cookies are round...but they differ because of cutters and blah blah...so can muffins...

therefore...MUFFIN.
