Glad you guys liked the melody. It's an old one I did about a year ago and re-incarnated it into this track.

I've gotten mixed feedback on the melody. It's a somewhat complex one and it takes a few listens of it to be able to follow the progression properly.

Well I finally got time to check the track out.
I think bass would be better if it was a bit more upfront
Around 1:52 when everything stops I think it stops to abruptly and maybe a better transition into the breakdown would be good.
Efx you have going are nice.
Other than that I like this track the most out of the rest of yours.
Keep it up

Great track, flow and structure-wise. I've always had trouble with structure and flow.

The generic saw melody may be generic but it still fits it well. I would suggest adding something when you bring in the breakbeat.... which by the way is becoming a trend and cliché, so I'd perhaps avoid it unless it really fits incredibly.

the mixdown is great stuff. there's some sort of element on the left side that isn't balanced by something on the right and it bugs me.
the effects and percussion are great... in all the right places.
I do notice that the ohihats are a tad dull and could perhaps be a slight bit louder. I do understand how you've kept the piano mostly bright to keep it out of the bassline's frequency range, but it could still use some low-mid meat to make it more impactful.
although I'm on cheap headphones, I can tell there could be some more high end in the percussion. maybe some multi-band compression in the low-mids to carry more basslines and upper-end-highs for air. you want to drive the subs if this were played at a club and the tweeters need more info. this stuff is mostly mastering related though.

melodies are great... it's great you're going melodic... seems to be your forté.

after reading this post i decided i would see what your track is like.

the track is hardly a pinnacle of originality. the production is generally decent. the sequencing certainly needs to be improved on, everything is introduced far too quickly (the whole track is very short at under 6 minutes) with little use of filters on any of the sound to ease the transitions.

the synth programming is decent, but if you are using hardware you should be able to get a lot more out of your sounds than you are.

kick + percs along with the bass need more work as the low end feels to be dragging the track a bit with the midpercs being forced out the mix

didnt know Alanzo was such a jerk...

Standardizing music including trance to follow a certain and percise format makes it less artistic and expressive...

Yes, I know this track is un-original. This one is probably the most un-original track I've ever done (I did that intentionally).

I'm not a jerk. I've just never found feedback like: "d00d, this track is total ch00nage" or something like that to be helpful to my producing. Thus I try as hard as I can to say exactly what I feel about the track. And a lot of the time, I find that the tracks that are posted on TA suck.

You will NEVER find me saying "this track sucks" and leave it at that. I will ALWAYS state exactly why I think it sucks and most of the time how the producer can work at fixing that. If the producer's feelings get hurt, then, well.. f***'em.

As for this track, I greatly enjoy the percussion. I think the riffs before the build are a bit cheesey. The build is totally a tease! Although I'm really not a huge trance fan anymore, I thought that this track really accomplished what trance is supposed to be: interesting, well produced, and dance-able.

WORD!
except you ARE amazing and although you do not have the genius of bethoven you do have the genius of NOW/TODAY

I never said I was Beethoven, or even implied it. Such a thought is faulted from the get-go. Believe me, there are composers 1000x better than me. But for trance, I'de say I'm quite close to the composition skills of Airbase, Flutlicht, etc etc.

I have more tracks, of course. Check out my website: http://www.musicofalanm.com
