I dont know what u guys find so special about arab food.....okk youre all arabs....so what, im not here always talking about quebec stuff.....you gotta admit theres a lot of different styles of food better than yours....I personnaly think Italian and Chinese food kick ass...and poutine of course

Serieusement Sim, t'es dans l'champ

First of all, why do you think Amir, Bacha, Daou and all these other Arabic places do so well in Montreal? I guarantee you it's not because there are so many Arabs there, cause we eat this stuff at home every day. Rather, it's because non-Arabs are in love with Shawerma, Shish Taouk and Arab food in general. When I go to any Arab restaurant in Montreal, I'm pleasantly shocked to see how many Quebecers, Italians, Greeks and so forth that are eating our food. You, my friend, are obviously in the minority of people who don't enjoy it

Second of all, and more importantly, and exactly like Taha said, Arabic cuisine is by far one of the most diversified cuisines in the world (along with the French and Oriental cuisines). Shawerma and Shish Taouk are our "fast food" equivalents to hamburgers and cheeseburgers. Don't juge the entire cuisine based on a very limited understanding of what it consists of. It's like me saying I hate Italian food cause I don't like pizza. Well, what about all the other stuff???

Just for the sake of your enlightenment, Arab cuisine in general is one of the healthiest ones around, especially most of the Medditerranean Arab Cuisine (Lebanese, Syrian, Palestinian, Morrocan, Egyptian and so forth). True authentic Arab cuisine has usually very little fat, lots of vegetables and legumes, and if it uses any oil, usually only the healthiest olive oil. The following examples come to mind, and these represent just a very small sample that I can remember from the top of my head (mostly Lebanese/Syrian, since that's what I'm most familiar with):

- mloukhiyeh (a leafy green from the jute plant, usually served with toasted bread, onions and vinegar)
- warak arish mihsheh (grape leaves stuffed with rice, meat and tomatoes, usually served with gralic and olive oil)
- warak malfouf mihsheh (cabbage leaves stuffed with rice, meat and tomatoes, usually served with garlic and olive oil)
- mdardara (steamed lentil and rice topped with roasted onions)
- loubieh bzayt (buttery beans served either hot with tomato sauce and chunks of meat, or cold with olive oil)
- fawaregh (stuffed intestines with rice and meat)
- falafel (Ground fava beans, chick peas, parsley, garlic, and onion, made into patties)
- kibbe (Hand-rolled ground meat balls, with wheat germ, stuffed with sautéed meat, onions, pine nuts, and spices)
- kousa/batinjan mihshe (stuffed zucchioni/eggplant with rice and meat)

Not to mention all the grilled meats we have (kafta, kabab), the different types of salads (tabouleh, fattoush), the different types of appetizers (hommos, fool, babaghannouj, ftayar bi lahem, sambusek, lahm bi ajin) and the desserts...ohhhh the desserts...I drool (bakhlavah, simsmiyeh, hiloh, kaak, knefeh, tamar) and so on and so forth.

Anyway, all this to say that our cuisine is the shit However, I like all kinds of other cuisines, especially Japanese (sushi alone takes the cake for best food ever), but we enjoy talking about Arab food because we're a bunch of narcissistic self-centered, self-glorifying arab males Hope that answers your many queries

I remember the first time I ate poutine. I spent the entire night with heartburn and worrying about the twitching in my left arm. I thought I was a gonner.
