NO loose lips here. I will not post anything which is not available through media sources. Folks forget why we left forces in Korea to begin with. nK and the South both have constitutions claiming sovereignty over the entire peninsula, which basically means they have the right to govern each other's territory. The Korean War ended in a truce and a military demarcation line (DMZ) across the peninsula based on the positioning of opposing forces at the time. Pork Chop Hill and Heartbreak Ridge of fame are in nK hands, since the nK and Chinese forces owned the territory when the truce was signed for instance. nK has positioned 75% of its forces agressively within the first 100km of the DMZ with embedded artillery. The only reason you would position artillery forces on the forward line is to support an attack and not a defense. Oh, BTW nK has a million man Army for real. It's not like the million man Army Iraq claimed. This one is for real. The US is not afraid of this force with its decrepit weapon systems; the US would slaughter them wholesale. The problem is the WMD nK possesses, including limited nukes, substantial chemical munitions, and biological weapons. Seoul, Korea with about 10 million people is within the long range munition fans of these WMDs. We fear the wholesale slaughter of the civilian population of South Korea within these fans before US forces wreak a wholesale slaughter of their military in kind.

Not really. The war would be over in about six months from the onset resulting in the destruction of nK forces and it's ability to wage war. It would take us about 3 months to position sufficient forces to destroy their war machine. They have a real million man Army. We can't expect any shorter timelines with conventional warfare. If nK decides to go nuclear, we can certainly end the war within a day with a massive counterstrike. End result in any scenario is basically suicide if nK attacks. They can't attack a little bit and back off begging a truce. The US will go full bore for the throat and destruction of their government, infastructure, and military forces at the first strike. This scenario is old hat for military. Problem is the war would create millions of civilian casualties which are unavoidable and cannot be prevented.

Yep, this one would be a total ass whipping with no big deal about insurgents, etc. but one never knows these days. You need to consider the magnitude of potential civilian casualties in the millions which would outweigh the ultimate victory. nK has an arsenal of WMD (chemical and biological, not including nukes) which are sufficient to inflict severe casualties on the densely populated northern areas of South Korea within 30-40 miles of the DMZ.

I want the mullahs out and so do many others BUT there is no need for the US to come and invade Iran and give us their so called bullshit democracy like what they did in Iraq.

The ROKA can hold off a nK offensive for a while. We have enough MLRS batteries to pound them nonstop along the avenues of approach for 3-4 weeks. And that's one helluva lot of firepower. All we really need to do is check the attack so we can counterattack and destroy them. We cannot stop the damage and carnage caused by a nK strike on the populace if they launch.

You're persistent if nothing else. Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) can take out grid squares (1000m x 1000m) on a battery launch. This seems like a lot, but is meaningless unless you hit the right grid square target where the enemy is located. Mindlessly launching munitions downrange with no target is called interdiction fire aand tends to scare the enemy, but not physically impede him unless you get lucky on a launch and actually hit forces. You have to take this all in perspective as well though, since we don't normally launch munitions for the helluva it. Sometimes we might aim to just knock out bridges and choke points.

Silly boy. MLRS outranges tube arty any day. But cannot stop effects of shorter range fires by the enemy. You also have to understand the primary targets of MLRS is counterbattery fire (i.e., killing the enemy artillery batteries). Once enemy batteries are destroyed, they might then concentrate on other targets.
