If the syrian do this, it's exactly like if the commit a suicide.
Imo Israel and USA can do this but why just now ? Hariri could win the next elections in Liban, but the Syria is their next target, and they can want to 'evilise' this country (especially the governement and the king).
The integrist can too do that, because they want to do a revolution and create a theocracy.

So, we'll never know.

yup some wierd stuff. i read recently that the pro-syrian PM is considering resigning. strange how some people believe that the syrian gov't would set out to do this considering the negative consequences that the killing has unleashed on the syrian gov't.

i also find it strange that the UN would unertake an investigation into the death. since when does the UN undertake such task? its the killing of one citizen (he was a former pm, not current). strange.

You are assuming the Syrians are gifted with a powerful ability of foresight so they are able to predicit the future and what would happen.

In reality, we could never have expected this type of reaction really - the reaction might have bene equally anti-Israel, or anti-USA if somehow Syria/Lebanon would place blame on them.

Just because the reaction is so strong and powerfully anti-Syrian, it doesn't mean it was obvious it was going to be this way.

u have a point, but i don't think it requires much or any foresight to anticipate certain types of reactions, some more liklely than others.

think of the israeli and palastenian situation. if there was a suicide bomber that kills several israelis in tel aviv, guess who the israeli gov't would first blame? yup, the palestinians. and if these was a reprisal attack on the palestinians (there always seems to be), anyone wishing israel to attack the palastenians would have to engineer a suicide bombing to set off the chain of events. pretty simple tactic. no foresight is necessary, just an educated guess about what would be more likely to happen.

but you may be right tho. the syrians could have anticipated some reaction from the lebanese and global community, but not to this degree. this is all strange.
