Thats a well known fact. Sasha and Digweed's Northern Exposures series sure were mixed in Pro Tools. Doesn't change the fact that they are still classics. The point of the comps is programming rather than mixing |
Uhh, I know...but he labelled all those CD's as "live in Ibiza"...I was just clearing it up cause they were all pro-tooled.

That's just sad, I think. It's as if a band would write their songs and let someone else play their music when recording an album. I don't care if the standard of comps is to sound perfect...it's ridiculous and WE as fans, should not embrace this as the norm for all comps.
Nothing against you man, it's just that this really pisses me off because I feel bigshot DJs are cheating all their fans. |
No way man...pro-tooling gives the DJ so much more depth to their comp's. You have to remember that when you're in a club listening to their liveset you don't always pick up every little mistake, but at home when you're focusing on the CD, and listening to it more than once, certain mistakes will become more and more apparent and could ruin the "flow" of the CD, which is the most important aspect of a compilation when listening at home. Layering, flow between tracks, etc. Sure, some of the DJ'ing gods can easily do that live, but once they're given the ability to go back and forth and perfect the mix, then it's just a whole different league.
Personally, I'd hate it if Involver wasn't equalized to perfection, and if that 1 beat here and there was a little off. Or if the transitions weren't perfect between the tracks (i.e. he held a track for a bit too long, or created an unnecessary loop, etc)
