Just listen what you like, and what if some TA's go down on you saying 'OMG cheese n00b' than it still would be the music you like. Although there are some TA's who are kind enought to explain where they listen too and advise you to try some tracks out to expand your horizons. Those people I highly appreciate.

That's all well and good, it's the people who don't realise that you have expanded your horizons, and decided what you like best.

The ones who think that when you 'discover' prog, you'll start to hate trance, etc

As I said, I like something from everywhere, but if I go clubbing, I predominantly want to hear euphoric trance, coz it's even minter in a club with lasers n stuff

WHAT IS CHEESE? I'd really like to know what you mean by it. It's hard to argue anything when you don't even know what people really are talking about.

(lets not reply "trance" or "mcprog" or some other lame one-word-bs)

Cheese is good, stupid fun. Nothing wrong with it. So long as it puts a smile on your face, it's done its job.

Trouble starts, though, when cheesey tunes begin to think they're something more than silly exuberence. Epic trance could learn something from happy hardcore in how it presents itself.

I wholeheartedly agree with what u said. Indeed I have discovered progressive but no way I feel all high an mighty now and bash the ASOT-lovers here. I will never neglect the good old Dutch supersaws and strings. Don't forget big events with fireworks and stuff. I was on a party where they lighted fireworks on the melody of 'Twisted' from Johan Gielen and that was incredible!

I like cheese. Hell, I fucking love cheese. Some of the best music ever written was pure cheese. Prodigy- Out of Space? Total fromage, but also one of the greatest pieces of dance music of its era. If you want to call trance cheese, or pop music, you can do. But if you genuinely think that makes it bad, you can fuck off, because you're elitist, and you obvious are boring as hell. Anyone who thinks fun music is bad music probably have no friends. Hell, I wouldn't be friends with you.

I don't think trance is pop music. Some of the most commercial stuff is cheesy, yes, but the middle of the road trance is not cheese. If you think it's cheese just because it has a melody you're wrong. But to dislike something because it's pop, or cheesy, is idiotic. And you think what you listen to is better, because not everyone has heard of it? Newsflash: there's a reason nobody has heard of it, and it isn't because it isn't "pop", it's because it's shit. Good music will always be popular, and it's as simple as that.

Yes, and it's one of the most ridiculous sayings ever. If nobody criticized anything cos of fear of offending people there would be 0 progress, especially within music. Just make sure you put some effort into it.

Oh, fuck yes! Finally someone realises that Epic Trance is fucking stupid. Dance to it all you want, but it won't make you any smarter. It's the fluffiest, shallowest shit on the planet, that uses the most obvious methods of convincing its listener that it's "emotional" and "deep" (which it isn't, that's just your dumbass, X-ed out brain talking), and too many people here seem to claim that it's not.

twister: I agree with everything you've said here, too.

And dancing is for letting loose and getting stupid. And if you listen to ASOT at home... well... you're just plain stupid.
