my review
It all started at Gavin's for a pre-party. A ton of people showed up but maybe half actually went to PvD. BTW, everyone who didn't make it are amateurs. I kid... It was sweet seeing everyone.
Pete (Pete K), Matt (zenperson), LeeAnn (angelblue) and I got to Eleven50 about 10:30. There was no wait online and the inside of the club was pretty sparse. So we're chilling, getting drinks and Edgar is doing his usual good stuff. Then the music just stops. STOPS. Not only did it completely stop, it remained stopped for about 2 minutes. Edgar was cool about it and again the music went. Edgar played a few more tracks and again the music stops. At this point, I wondered wht's going on. Another minute of waiting before the music to kick back in.
Come 12am, Matt kepts looking at his clock asking me why hasn't PvD came on yet. What a n00b. Everyone knows PvD only plays about 2.5 hours here in the A.T.L. I forget when track PvD started with because we were all outside takinga breather when PvD snuck in and opened his set without a proper intro track.
For the next 2.5 hours, I was dancing the whole time. The place was absolutely packed on a Wednesday night. I think it was completely sold out. Paul absolutely brought it to Atlanta. I have to say the 2nd best set I've seen him do in Atlanta. (#1 was at Club NV about 4 years ago.) I didn't religiously follow PvD like in my later days so most of the tracks were all fresh to me. The crowd was into it but the cheering wasn't as loud for some reason. And you know what ws the best part? He didn't play NBY, Crush or ToOL! I repeat he didn't play anything from Reflections! I thought I never see the day. I couldn't stay for the last two tracks, no thanks to Matt. The only bad part was PvD's spotty mixing at times. He didn't wreck but his timing was completely off in terms of when to bring back the bass. It sounded like he wasn't completely familiar with the tracks, which isn't necessarily bad because I love fresh music.
In conclusion, Atlanta <3s PvD. And he's still the man.
