Listen to this fucked up shit. As I was in Clubvibes.com this is a quote from Tiesto@Commodore. "Tiesto will lead you through another dimension filled with progressive house....." progressive house? If he is a progressive house DJ then I'm at the wrong website. progressivehousEaddict.com

Sorry to spam, I just thought that was really funny

last time he was here, i think earlier this year, the description of him in the georgia straight was of a "Dutch house dj"

of course, if they went by his EM, the prog house moniker wouldnt be too far off... but something tells me they aren't going by that.. heh

NOTHING is advertised as trance on a bid scale here, not oakenfold (world's biggest dance dj!), nobody...

What patticus said is right on.

If you guys haven't happened to notice, the house scene in this city is growing faster than fungus. Every top40 chump at every retarded club plays top40 hiphop, r&b and HOUSE! Yay that!

House is a household word in the city these days (pardon the pun). If you advertise something as a "trance" event then it will only appeal to people with a fucking clue; the hoard of club going dumbasses will think it's some sketchy raver thing. Don't worry yourself about it, Tiesto is gonna be dropping some nice uplifting trance, you can count on it =)

Is what you are saying that the reason they call it prog house so that people out there who haven't heard of Tiesto(I pity them) will go see him?

I saw him earlier this year and last year and it sounded like trance to me. I didn't know how much I liked trance till I saw him @ Wicked last year. Or what I saw of him.(damn power outage )

I also think trance has a bad rep. I find alot of people can't listen to trance without doing drugs.ex. I went to a trance night at 7 alexander a while back and more people were high there than people who were drinking. Most people like trance because it's trips them out. And few can be sober and still love it. I just think we get it and the average person doesn't.(As mentioned in a thread a while back)

As for house I like about 5% of the house out there. You know the stuff that is so trippy it sounds like trance but only certain people can tell the difference.

Peace

actually going back to what sean said, they'll play house if they can get away with it, if you're in a place like wettbar and drop a track like afro medusa the majority of ppl will be like... WTF... turn off this raver shit and get back to DMX!

what kind of trance is spun at 7 alexander anyways... i havent checked it out yet

Pat man. Thursday nights at wettbar kicks ass. I have spent tons of time at LIME and its a pretty cool crowd. Kickass Dj's from most genres, no DMX thats for sure

Lime on Thursdays moved to Richards a couple months ago, it's no longer at Wettbar =P

There used to be a Trance Night at the 7 on Friday, it was pretty good but pretty much all older tunes. Now it's Twisted night, and they spin a relatively large number of trance tunes (depending who's DJ'ing that night), usually hard trance mixed in with hardhouse and techno.

id venture to say its showbox sized... tho a different layout. probably about the same capacity also. its in downtown by where sonar, etc are. if you want people to carpool with, go to www.nwtekno.org (have you been to the site yet?) and post in carpool. lots of people are coming up for it and i know people have talked about wanting to carpool.

The commadore ballroom is probably one of the best venues in Van city. Its a classy joint. Its located like right smack in the center of downtown Vancouver....really easy to find.

Get a ticket before you come up though because there selling hella fast.
