Ontario Parks Reservation Website; it's buried in the Ontario Parks website so this is the direct link...

Ya, its private, and they have toilets and showers there, 4 or 5 each both girls and guys.

Also, incase you're not feeling "all the way" in to the camping spirit, they have a country restaurant when you enter the grounds. On our last day, we said fuck it and ate breakfast there. and OH MY GOD, was it ever good! Totally worth checking out for one day! Very very very good! The older couple that runs it is so fuckn nice too! Great ppl.

Ok, so you would say this was more of a family campground then? It sounds pretty good from what you've described. How big was it?

If anyone else knows any good private campgrounds.. please do tell. I know there are many out there but some seem more like trailer resorts.

A location near the water (for swimming) and good hiking conditions would be ideal

Damn, there goes the ONE camping experience I really wanted to have this summer.
BTW, anyone ever went to Penetenguishen (I'm certain I mispelled that). I went there with my family several years ago and remember the place being very beautiful.

Its listed as one, but we took a spot away from the rest of them and we definately were not acting very "family friendly" LOL

we were so effing loud, as i said, bc we were all drunk and stoned and most of us were flying high as a kite from mushrooms.

we had a blast there......

Are you speaking about Provincial park close to Penetanguishene or about the city itself?

I've been to both. Penetanguishene is nothing special, except the 30,000 Islands cruise, Awenda is not bad, but the beach is very small and too many sharp stones in the water.

I'm leaving for algonquin tomorrow. We have a campsite in the highland area.

40K drive into algonquin, then a 6km hike to our campsite right on a lake

I'm a little worried about rattle snakes though

Killarney National Park is awesome. Small Mountains, great wilderness, canoeing, etc.

Algonquin would be awesome, too bad my buds are too wussy to go "hardcore camping".

Believe me, you don't want to see wolverines...they're friggin' nasty; you'd be better off running across a big black bear...
