Like the conservative under Mulrony didn't do this.
that guy got rich as f... off our asses, no difference then the current goverment |
I lived in one for awhile. The politics here is shaping up to be no different than what is everyday occurances there. "a few (quarter of a million) dollars or a billion dollars. theft is theft. It does make a difference. I wasnt a fan of Mulroney either and if he were running for the conservatives i would not be voting for them.

What have the Liberals done for us lately?
The only remarkable thing they have done is keep us out of Iraq and to be honest, had we appeared in Iraq we would have had such a small role anyways.
The Liberals have cut healthcare, reneged on a promise to cut the GST, wasted over a billion dollars on a gun registry, wasted over a billion dollars in human resources, stolen our money through ad programs, and were officially against gay marriage until 2 years ago when they suddenly flipflopped.
Sorry but im not about to risk the future of my country on whether or not 2 men are allowed to be called married.
The conservatives support gay unions that are equal to marriage. They just dont want to actually call it marriage. I cant see why this cant be an acceptable comprimise at least for now until society gets used to the idea.
As for the miltary, didnt the Liberals just increase military spending through pressure from the conservatives? That was a major conservative platform that the Liberals were against in the last election if i rememeber correctly.
Conservatives PRO:
-better streamlined immigration. Currently the system does not allow foreign trained professionals to practice in this country. The Conservatives want to change that.
-better criminal justice. The conservatives want to create better laws, repeal the young offenders act (or whatever its called now) and create tougher penalties
- lower taxes... yes i know socialist hate the idea of people being allowed to spend their own money but we have a huge surplus. A surplus means that the government is taking too much of our money
- no national daycare.... we can barely afford national healthcare and now we want to do this? No thanks.
- abolish gun registry... even police depts see this as a waste of money. Lets end this boondoggle and use the money for training more officers.
The reasons above are why im voting conservative notwithstanding the adscam which makes it even easier to do so.

what's truly laughable is that people like you feel that the sponsorship scandal means that the current Liberal administration is unfit to lead. There is no CAUSAL relationship there, however the Liberal detractors want to spin it.
I've gone over this in past threads...I'm not interested in getting into a debate with anyone anymore.
It's my opinion, it is how I WILL vote, and that's that.
Why is Harper not a capable leader? Because having an opinion and implementing that opinion are two different things. As pointed out, a vast majority of constitutional lawyers say that Harper is not able to legally have same-sex unions as a solution to gay marriage, yet he refuses to back down. Will of the people, party line, whatever...it does NOT matter. If he's unable to implement it, yet sticks to his position in the face of EXPERTS saying he can't do it, that's one indication enough to me that he's unfit to lead.
anyone can put together a platform...if you CAN'T implement it, it's just hot air meant to sway voters. I'll state again that the rights of minorities are NOT to be determined by silliness such as a "free vote"...Harper and his supporters seem unable to comprehend that very basic ethical point. You can dig up the thread where I refuted Shadowolf's reference to archaic British common law by pointing to the provision of our Charter that *explicitly* allows for other criteria (eg. sexual orientation) to be included under it's protections.
and no, my vote is not based upon this single issue...although it, and the Conservative Alliance's lack of position on abortion, provide me with insight into the party's underlying principles and how they will act if elected...so I don't want that party in power. It's a step backwards, IMHO, to a time when "majority rules" was acceptable on issues of minortiy rights, which is beyond ludicrous.

What lack of position on Abortion? They have clearly stated that they will not seek legislation to ban abortion.
And criminal activity means that you are unfit to govern, point blank.

Of course they want tax relief. Services have gone down and taxes have gone up and there is a huge surplus. I think the middle of the road taxpayer is sick of waste.
