I dont think it's cheating either.
It depends on how you use them though.
If drumloops replace all other arrangements (esp. Open Hihat, Closed HiHat, Ride, Shaker, Crash, Rev. Cymbal and other kinds of percussion) it kinda is cheating.
However most people (including myself) use Drumloops to bring in some more drive to the overall atmosphere (not making em too loud, just bringing them in decently into the background).

yeah you can do great FX with loops...like sending them thru a step-sequencer-driven Filter mixed with Delay and Bitcrusher or whatever...so many possibilities

imo loops are only cheating when you are using them so that you dont have to construct percussion lines. honestly percussion is one of my weak points but i have no desire to use loops for the fact that i think its better to work at something untill it sounds good even if it means 2 years of shit percussion then so be it. but i like the idea that everything within a track is what i did even if it sounds like complete shit. becuase then its my complete shit and not my complete shit helped out by (insert favorite loop cd manfacture here) ya know what i mean. just my 2 cents tho.

Well it's not cheating but it's kinda stupid at most times. I mean most of us here just produce to have fun but mostly to LEARN and become better and you definitely wont get better at programming drums if you just use premade loops.
