I teach pre-schoolers Spanish and couldn't envision myself doing it for the span of my life. I guess I'm just not interested in the traditional route (teaching) as far in my language major.

Oh, I was thinking of English as well, with a focus on creative writing. I wouldn't call it unstable per say, just highly competitive. But I understand, who wants to be a poor poet/artist?

Edit again: Here's my mentality on the english perspective. I want to make a difference. For me personally, to be a writer would only be a release of me.. all about me, my rants, my thoughts, my nothings and everythings, etc. It just seems a bit selfish I guess. Of course you could write things to create an impact on someone, but it just seems so self involved.

Maybe a double major in Global Studies and Foreign Language ? Feck I don't know. It changes every 4.57 minutes...

Trades are supposed to be pretty big, I'll probably end up taking one at BCIT, seeing as I don't see how I could pay for university. I'm looking into Radiology, or something like that.

Well sure, the philosophy-esque side of writing is great, but it's hard to get any real employment out of that, or, employment aside, to even get published; unless you're absolutely brilliant in composition, idea, or both. As far as being a writer, something in the Hunter S. Thompson gonzo manner would be quite acceptable. Hard to say if there is room in the world for a person like that these days though.

I think creating an impact in the reader is the entire point of writing. Even if it's just your personal musings, what's the point if you don't illicit a reaction?

Actually seems like he is a factory worker as opposed to a salesman. Nothing wrong with such jobs if that person has some genuine skills and ambition. For example, Boeing factory aircraft workers probably make more than me and may have engineering degrees. Also nothing excludes him from going into white collar responsibilities from his current job.

I don't really tie occupation to intelligence/ my perception. I've seen way too many dumb fucks who can barely tell their assholes from their elbows in management positions.

That's coz managers are there to be responsible for shit, not actually have any sort of productive input

As far as careers go, with the impending collapse of society (you never know ), core jobs like electrician/plumber/etc will prove far more fruitful should the sheeyat hit the fan

I agree. You must understand, telling you these things is a method of venting, a further means of manuevering astray from the English major. I like how you're further helping me. I don't want to be isolated; be on the outside looking in, yet possessing no desire to be in. I will not ostracize society and its ways. I don't want to turn into a raving madwoman alcoholic (Ginsberg, Burroughs, Kerouac, Plath) I don't want to die at the age of 53 ! I want to be dynamic and converge into lives of others.

I'm not much a fan of Thompson I wish I was.
