btw. isn't parts of Laurentian owned by TD now as well ? lol

its possible, i thought it was Desjardins who owned most of it

anyhow, as soon as I can get rid of my Laurentian account I will.

oh the benefits to have a family member working for a bank (national bank).

Sure personal / domestic banking may be a cash cow, but it's not from a result of these day to day fees, it's interest on loans and mortagages.

I just had a quick look at Scotiabank's 2004 revenue figures.

Total revenue: $9.8 billion.

Revenue from cards and deposit / payment services (which pretty much covers any of your day-to-day bank fees) totalled $877 million, or about 9% of total revenue.

I'm sure the other banks wouldn't be dramatically different either.

Read This!

I just transferred all my money to the National Bank of Nigeria.

I got an email that said I could get part of some hidden millions if I helped out some former gov't officials there...

France is awesome...you can withdraw from ANY bank's ABM with no extra charges.

exactly... the ABMs are a sacrifices that the customers is willing to make in order to save money for the bank (not pay fees). Not the other way around.

Yeah THAT is why I was so tempted to switch from BMO to PC...I also have a mortgage with BMO and when I was thinking of switching banks when my mortgage was due, the BMO Mortgage officer was throwing all these added freebies & low rate just to keep me.The only think I HATE about BMO is that my normal branch at East York Town Center is discusting & they removed their outdoor ATM so I can't use the Mall ATM unless its open....For this reason alone I may change to the other banks in that mall because they HAVE access to their ATMs outside the mall...Fucking banks nickel & dime you for using the OTHER banks machine is total robbery
