to be honnest i didnt read the article, just wanted to make a general point about the fact they should have been aware of what was likely to happen. if as you point out some of them did try to leave, or were actually married, then i cant comment any further on that basis.

what i would say, is that you are looking at the situation through your values, and judging them based on those values. perhaps there is something to honour of the family that we cant appreciate. looking beyond this article, if the girls of such families/communities know about the rules of those families/communities, then they should either adhere or move away. i dont think that its likely that the majority of those girls will get shot at the train station..and i think it would be best for evetyone if they did move away.

Oh, but it does have something to do with this, which is that both of those points of view are an invention and a result of the political correctness initiative, characterized by relativizing issues. In other words, right and wrong are no longer defined as absolutes but as relatives. That means if a black person finds being called black a big offense, political correctness will treat it as a big offense. On the other hand, if a muslim lunatic finds killing his sister a normal thing to do, political correctness will treat it as more or less a normal thing. The problem here is that when you treat law and morale as subjective values, you loose the big picture and are no longer able to say which issues are important and which are irrelevant, as well as that you loose the ability to realistically and absolutely decide which issue deserves a greater punishment.

im not saying they should be given lesser sentences or treated differntly, this woud imply that i am condoining it, which i have said im not. if a muslim commits a murder he should be treated no differntly to a christian who committs a murder. if a muslim kills his sister it shouldnt be considered any more normal than when a chritsian does so. but, the muslim girl should have been more aware of the chamnce of such thing happening, and perhaps could have avoided it.

as for black people taking offence to being called black, thats a totally differnt thing, that is more to do with taking into considration the things that have happened in the past, and therefore being more sensitive towards there feelings. not just besacuse they 'black'

I think the thing people are picking up on is that you seem to be suggesting the woman should take some responsibility for what happens...

I can understand given the media bias (and in some cases propaganda) agaisnt Muslims/Arabs how many people are misinformed/misunderstand the religion or cultrue (mutually exclusive things btw). That still is no excuse for bashing the religion or genralizing such acts to EVERYONE and the ENTIRE CULTURE.
