allow me to add some new albums into this thread, and hope a bunch of guys will follow again!

Kaito's Special Life cd, on of my favorite cds ever. Everything this man touches is so briliant!

The other Kaito album, also very very well put together!!

"Arovane - Lilies"; especially 'Lilies' and 'Cry Osaka Cry' are mindblowing!

L'Usine's Serial Hodgepodge, quite some clicks and nice sounding atmosphere

"Minotaur Shock - Maritime"; Four Magpies!!

"Boy Robot - Rotten Cocktails"; Probably one of the best artist albums this year, another masterpiece on City Centre's....they're the best

Another beauty, once again on my fav label, cco,

thats it for now, will post more if this topic gets it going again!

I strongly recommend the 3 artist albums of Finland's leading house & deep house producer Jori Hulkkonen, they are all very good, varying from mellow downtempo tracks to groovy house to moody deep house :

When No One Is Watching, We Are Invisible

Different

Dualizm

Oh yes, i'm a fan of Hiroshi Watanabe too. And Special Love is basicly an ambient release of Special Life, has beatless versions of selected tracks from Special Life. Both albums are brilliant.

woot my thread hehehe

ok some more suggestions...

Tori Amos - From The Chior Girl Hotel

huge fan of Tori Amos and i love all her albums, but i'd suggest this on as probably her strongest and most easily enjoyed by those that haven't heard her before...

Bjork - Homogenic

also huge huge bjork fan hahaha...and i think we have quite a few around here as well, but if you aren't familiar with her check out this album. once again i love them all, but this would probably be the one to start with...

Four Tet - Rounds

another album suggested to me by a TA not too long ago and its very nice. its quiet like a lot of the cd's in my first post. once again if you enjoy quiet music and soft downtempo tunes, you'll like this...

Enya - Paint The Sky With Stars

this is a nice best of enya cd which really does a great job highlighting all the best that she's done. if you are an enya fan you'd probably just want to get all of the cd's, ut if you just want a touch of what there is...this is perfect for you...

Dido - No Angel

this is just an awesome cd...dido's debut, but so many great songs on it.

Sarah Mclachlan - Surfacing

i'm sorry, but sarah mclacklan's original work is a lot better than all of the electronica remixes...all cd's good, but this is a good place to start...

so i got girly taste in music...

i listen to a lot of different music, so here's a state-of-the-state pictorial of relatively recent faves:

hip-hop:
while the genre has by-and-large gone down the tubes, there are a few bright spots, and Immortal Technique's "Revolutionary Vol. 2" (pictured below) is one of the brightest:

----------------------------
new wave:
someone already mentioned interpol's superb sophomore "antics" but below is an e.p. with outstanding remixes culled from the second album:

----------------------------
rock:
the hot hot heat, out of vancouver b.c., continue to put out well-crafted and catchy rock: seen them twice this year and they've continued to impress:

---------------------------
indie rock/punk:
quality garage-band, indie-flavored rock/punk from "the mooney suzuki" and nebraska's "head of femur."

-----------------------------
indie rock (emo-ish):
although a lot of coner oberst's stuff is hit or miss, his protest single, "when the president talks to god" (pictured below) was outstanding, with a feeling straight out of the '60s.

-------------------------------
reggae:
in another genre that has gone largely stagnant, damian "jr gong" marley, bob and rita's youngest, returns with "welcome to jamrock,' an anthem about a side of jamaica that sandals-resort-goers rarely see. great tune pounded for almost a year now:

The Notwist - Neon Golden This is a MUST LISTEN for anyone who likes electronic music IMO. It's not EDM but it has a heavy electronic influence. The singer has a beautiful voice and a kind of dreamy style (he's german singing english). Has some slight blues and jazz influence on certain tracks as well. Highly reccomended. If you like it you should also check out their older CD that is a little "funkier" - shrink. I really can't stress this reccomendation enough, it's one of the most beautiful, creative pop/rock/whatever-you-want-to-call-it albums I've listened to in years.

Bloc Party - Silent Alarm Accessible, possibly even danceable indie rock. Fast paced, straight up no filler.

The Microphones - the glow pt. 2 Really chilled out, laid back guy singing over an acoustic guitar with a bunch of drum machines and distortion in the background.

Aesop Rock - Labor Days Best hip hop album I have ever heard. He's white but not even comparable to some, uhh, "other" white rap. Intelligent lyrics, great flow, I don't even like hip-hop and I love this album. Daylight especially stands our as a great song.

The Faint - Danse Macabre Kind of cheesy but alot of fun. Kind of a rock/electronic hybrid, hard to describe. Aggressive sounding b ut also pretty light hearted and fun.

Incubus - A Crow Left of the Murder Contrary to popular reception I think this is one of their best album's. A little more laid back than the early albums and not nearly as cheesy as some of the later albums. Straight up alt-rock. Track 2 and 4 IMO are particularly beautiful.

Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary This is an old album, from 1994. It's technically classified as emo but sounds NOTHING like current "emo" music. Driving, fast paced, beautiful lyrics and contrary to it's genre there is absolutely no whining or crying.
...

I could list like 500 indie rock albums that I really like but I won't. If anyone is curious about exploring that genre of music though give me a PM and I'll give you some suggestions.

Tipper's "Surrounded"

Heavenly, heavenly machines, exuding more emotion than man. This is IDM that puts Airdrawndagger to shame.

Xiu Xiu's "Fabulous Muscles"

Worth the cost of "I love the valley OH!" alone hmmmmm sooooo soo gooood *shakes*

CocoRosie.

This is for you Floor! I see you added Mum and Four Tet We're like Siamese Twins who were unjustly split at the anklets upon birth. Our taste is identical. That Fluke album looks mighty tasty! I love the cover as well. I'm just going to have to order it. Anyways, this is CocoRosie. Two sisters. Went seperate ways. Were reunited. Presenting: "La Maison de Mon Reve" It seems they utilize any instrument within reach ranging from rain to Elmo's squeak toy to even their own vocals. Don't let that deter you!! It's angelic and will keep you aloof to reality. This is Mother Theresa's holy music. If anyone wants it, I have a live mix that easily tops the album

"Frankenstein girls will seem strangely sexy"

Only for those with an open mind Highlights for me include "F@gg0t" and "I hate Jimmy Page."
Mindless Self Indulgences's "Tight" album is good as well. "Bring the Pain" and "Diabolical"
I don't like letting anyone know I listen to these freakedly demented fuckheads. Once in a blue moon, when no one is looking.

Halou's "Wiser"

A husband and wife combo making torchy, ethereal trip hop. I find myself holding my breathe when listening to "Political" or "Milkdrunk" This is lip bitable. Yes. Floor, you would like this.

Cibo Matto's "Viva la woman!"

Gawd, I love this girl! "Birthday Cake" is so quirkirly kool. An oddball Japanese lady with phat sick beats of food product.

Very good thread, by the way! I'll be lost in this for awhile. Good references! Especially the Microphones album GrimReaper, I have to definately check out your recommendations. If anyone cares for any other trip hop artists, give me a PM

Wow. I listened to the samples of both "Different" and "When No One" albums. Amazon says if I like this, I'll like Mig's as well. Sorry, can't do Mig's. Add these 2 CD's to my already increasing "To do" list thanks to many others in this thread.

Scrapples in the earth with her fingers and her mouth
She's five years old

Thread worms on a string
Keeps spiders in her pocket

Scrubs horse flies
And pinches them on a line
Ohhh...

She has one friend, he lives next door
They're listenening to the weather
He knows how many freckles she's got
She scratches his beard

She's painting huge books
And glues them together
They saw a big raven
It glided down the sky
She touched it
Ohh...

Today is a birthday
They're smoking cigars

And sows a bird in her knickers
Ohhh...

They're smoking cigars
They lie in the bathtub
A chain of ... flowers
