Re: Artists using "DJ" in front of their name...

Ok, this is going to be controversial. This is partly why I'm making this post (get people talking, etc), but also partly because I want to know what others think.
I'm talking about both DJs and particularly producers here when I say I believe IT IS UNNECESSARY TO PRECEED YOUR NAME WITH THE PREFIX "DJ". In fact it looks cheesy, sounds cheesy and if you produce and don't DJ (as is quite often the case), it's just a blatent lie!!
I don't see why people feel they have to stick DJ in front of their name - the only other profession who do that (MC's excepted seeing that they use it in a similar vein - same case applies, but obviously "DJ" is more relevant to this board) are doctors, where it is actually an official title (like Captain, Colonel, Sir, etc)... I'm sorry to say owning a pair of belt drive Numark decks does not legally give you letters before or after your name.
Please don't think that I'm objecting to people coming up with creative names for themselves as an artist - on the contrary, having a unique name can really help to identify you and your music, however it doesn't have to start with "DJ"! Just try dropping it... Tiesto did. I think you'll find that 99% of DJ names starting with "DJ" will sound just as good (well, actually better) without the prefix... unless the name's a pun on the "DJ" thing, in which case you should be shot too (I don't care if it's your initals... do you know how many people in the world have the christian names David James, Daniel John, etc? It's not big and it's not clever).
Oh and don't think that I think (keeping up?) that my name's any good. It was actually once voted the worst username on a messageboard, but hey. It's my real name and I can't think of anything cool, currently waiting for that all-changing life experience which will scar me for life with a crazy nickname, which, for some reason, I'll decide to use as an artist name. What can you do...
Of course having that on the start of your name can be restricting... it kind of forbids you from producing (as it says you're a DJ, not a producer, surely?), unless you were just sitting in the corner mixing away while someone else was writing the tune... or maybe people should start calling themselves Producer , Female Vocalist and Guy Who Usually Makes The Tea But Once Moved One Of The Faders .
I hope you can see where I'm going here... mental hospital? Quite probably.
Please vote above... and reply with comments/abuse/grammar corrections
Thankyou please

Farout mate! What side of the bed did you get out of this morning!
You sound pretty pissed off about two letters. Did your girlfreind say no last night? It's funny you should start this topic cos I am reffered to as DJ by alot of my friends. Which means basicly you are telling me I can't have my nickname? Get A life
