First of all, thanks to DaveT for allowing me to download these mixes.

I listened to the 2005 A State of Trance Megamix on my 2 hour trip to school today, and I must say I was disappointed. I saw Armin play live a month ago, and he totally blew me away. He played one of the best trance sets I had ever heard, so I was excited when I downloaded this mix. I haven't listened to a lot of Armin sets, so I expected a set similar to his live performance that I saw. I was completely wrong. This set is filled with bad mixes, old tunes, and the energy just wasn't there. The mixing is really subpar as well. While the beat-matching is decent, the mixing blows. Oftentimes he can be heard mixing 2 strong melodies into another and then just fading the one out come breakdown time. I heard some really amateur mistakes. Don't even get me started on his track-selection, it looks like he ripped of a Paul Van Dyk tracklist from last year.

Paul Van Dyk has been spinning these tunes 2 years ago. It's okay to throw one or two classic trance hits into the mix (such as Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar), but it's not like these are classic trance hits, they are just old songs.

Hello there well My Friend this was the A STATE OF TRANCE episode 200!!! Yes 200 that means that there was 199 episodes before this...
If you pay attention to the Introduction they clearly state that they will go back and play 4 years of A State of Trance Tracks.. This was a MEGA Mix .. The songs where voted on by the Listeners as the top Tracks ever played on A State of Trance since the beginning. If you want A real Mix by Armin Van Buuren try going on to hottrance.com and download one from there..

This Mix is SUPER!! Represents all of what TRANCE has been in the past 4 years.. However it is what it is A MEGA MIX over 58 songs in 2 hrs...

Thanks for the clairfication, but no need to be a dick about it. I had no idea it was the songs voted by the readers, I just listened to what was posted, and gave my honest opinion of it. Like I said, I saw him live in person last month, and the set completely rocked the house, with no mixing errors whatsoever, that's why I was surprised by this set. I had no idea it was done on ableton. He does mix through most of the the songs pretty fast, but most trance isn't meant to be mixed that fast. That's why he had to have 2 melodies going at times. As to your "no one could mix that fast" claim, maybe no trance DJ could mix that fast, but I would venture to say that Carl Cox could do it. He's a fucking badass.
