then i start going on and on about their music and mine and how they're being hand-fed their musical opinions while i freely choose what i listen to, not based on popularity, but on personal preference and a deep enjoyment.
yeah, idk |
Ditto. I don't usually comment on their choice of music unless they repeatedly attack mine. I'll go off on how most of the stuff they're listening to sounded exactly the same five years ago, while what I listen to has truly progressed. If they tell me that EDM is repetitive, I'll tell them to take the lyrics out of Hip-Hop/Rap, and then get back to me.
While I tell them that, I'll laugh at how easily they fall into the media/MTV's statement that what they are providing is new, fresh, is the forefront of creativity.
Ignorant, MTV-loving kiddies = Funny

I was just thinking, it's not necessarily true that tech-trance has no emotion. That's just another annoying stereotype - some people seem to think that the harder a track is, the less emotion it carries, which is ridiculous.
I brought up this point on Armin's forum when I was complaining about the state of ASOT. People were like "but we want emotion, we don't want hard tracks". These people seem to think that the only "emotion" that exists in trance is with watered down, whining vocal shite. As a producer myself, there have been times where I've made some nasty hard psy track, and I've channeled multiple emotions into doing it.
It's not just wussy G&D 125bpm tracks that have emotion...
