I dunno, it just seems so limitless, so much more that one has the power to do with a computer, why not use it? I don't really pay much attention to the level of skill that is required to make a sound, as long as the sound is good I would enjoy it, even if it was like, a fart kazoo sympony.
Just give the computer guys a chance, there is so much great software music out there, and it does take long hours of proctice and work to make it all possible. They definetaly have skill, but it isnt the same set of skills, which isnt really that important.
I just dont understand what maked vinyl the required meduim for a respectable dj, other then tradition |
You're totally missing what this thread is about. Of course computers are great for making music, every single person on this board would agree with that! The discussion here is not about the way people make music, it's about the medium they use to play music. You don't create sounds with a piece of vinyl, you simply play it.
Anyway, to give my 2 cents, I think that vinyl is really what makes the dj. Not only because you know how to use a turntable but it's also about getting your hands on certain records. The actual search for good tracks. Some of the records that djs play are worth over $100! What is a cd or an mp3 worth? How hard are they to obtain? Think about that.
