He's right Trance is far past its prime over here, even big commercial dance events like Sensation hardly have trance DJ's in their lineups anymore.

I like Techno too but yes it is sad that people can`t distinguish between electronic music genres!

Trance in the U.S. is pretty much underground...people are just really ignorant...

Trance is underground in every country. It's just in many countries, the underground touches overground a lot. In the UK, the club scene is by and large seperate from the mainstream. However it is so large that tracks that blow up underground get official releases, and end up charting. Very little dance music (especially trance) charts through commercial routes.

Imagine teh most 1337 trance tracks on MTV...that would be nuts

well ive seen a few american posts.
miami/orlando/cali.
my posts is about trance in the south given club atmosphere.
i live in north fl, jacksonville.
while the state is not considered "southern", jacksonville is.
its said we are an extension of southern georgia, very "southern."
now my side of the city has two mega clubs, a club with separate clubs inside.
for example, a club called plush is down the street from me.
its main club is plush which plays mtv style shit, top 40 hip hop.
the second club inside is called leopard lounge.
this is where most of latins hang, playing allot of latin hoip hop and shit.
the last is rain, and it plays general techno.
u may here trance everyonce in awhile but the limits are very broad.
another mega club near me is called bourbon street.
it has a main walkway with clubs on it.
the bigger inside is called something i forget.
it is always dominated by blacks and plays rap.
the biggest one is called crazy horse.
mostly whites and plays nothing but country.
the smallest one is called blue room and is nothing but techno.
hard house, trance, whatever depending on whose spinning.
ive heard it all in there.
the last is like retro music club no one goes into.
thats basically the scene here.
there are 2 or 3 clubs in the city which have a techno night.
of course they call it something cool and shit.
oh yea and another mega club called the globe.
same situation as the others.
and its new york room which is pretty big, is mainly industry techno.

oh and on a side note, i call these things mega clubs because i see them no where else.
ive been to clubs in london and paris and they all seem small and one style driven, whatever that may be.
ive never been to a club in the states except what i know here.
do these megaclubs exist elsewhere or is this a jacksonville thing ??

Trance is almost non-existant in America other than the occasional trance song making it to top 40..even then it's not really the trance we are accustomed to, its stuff like Sandstorm by Darude. Even his newer stuff that sounds a little more like the stuff we listen to from his last album "Rush" wasn't really big like Sandstorm was. The only people in America that really embrace it are the few like me who have been into it for years, or the clubbers out there who enjoy it. Most of the kids from my high school thought it was all "techno", which annoyed the hell out of me. Even stuff that was clearly not techno, and was downtempo..was "techno". I had made a video in a film class my senior year, and I had images of autumn in it, like leaves and trees etc...and appropriately I put "Autumn Tactics" by Chicane ft. Justine Suissia as the background music, the original more downtempo version not the dancier "Thrillseekers Remix", which was too fast for the slow pace of the film. Anyways people had thought it was "techno", so I can conclude that people in America think anything that has a beat (other than the hip hop beat) or has synths is "techno". That's America for ya...
