I Believe it was Jeet Kun Do (the style of Bruce lee) and yes Jet Li has fought many competitions and become champion of HK/China (Cant remember.
Jackie chan just does comic flics because it makes more money as its what people whant and expect from him. His old films (Drunken Master) was just quality.
However, Yes. Bruce Lee is THE legend! RIP.
Also, look out for a new guy, i cant remember his name but he was the lead character in the newish film Ong-Bak. That film was shot with no wires, trick photography or stunt doubles. So this guy was literally running across peoples shoulders.

I can't be arsed to check out the whole freakin tthread, but this is what i say about that (and this and that and how that became this and those became them, >_>)

He trained many different styles. I've seen him fight close combat fighting as well, which isn't the style that you see in his movies.

Jeet Kun Do is about hitting at the right moment, which is probably what you see in his movies too.
He did Kyokushin/Kyokushinkai , kick boxing, wushu, wing chun (which is my style, my master is Simon Lau, and he was Bruce Lee's best friend) etc etc.

If Bruce Lee lived today he'd be like 63 years old or something.
Whatsoever, it's a shame that he had to taste the fuggin'ess of racial prejudice. Aw I hate that.

But, as said, Rest in peace, oh almighty warrior of the Shaolin order

He doesn't need to worry about grappling and take downs as much. He is fast and hits hard. The UFC / mixed martial arts competitions limit the types of attacks one can perform on your opponent. Hits to the eyes, throat, crouch, back of head, spine, butt heads are considered fouls in UFC rules thus making it more advantageous for a grappler. Though grappling is extremely deadly, as a real fighter, you almost never want to take the fight to the ground because then it then becomes half skill and half strength match.

-lol-

....

if observed(lived) long enough ... Lee's style could be tamed.

Also, those kicks that he takes his time with (there's some nice examples in some of the movies), they're actually as powerful as when a car hits you (I dont know what speed though =P)

But in Enter The Dragon, he kicks Chuck Norris (I think, cant remember) so hard that the 3 guys that were gonna catch him, fell backwards, also a broken arm on one of them. The chairs behind the three guys were totally CRUSHED. ^+^

It was Bob Wall and that kick was amazing. Like the laws of physics didn't apply to Bruce's power.
