Alright, i'll contribute something. Some of you may know this one.

A farmer is travelling with his fox, a chicken, and some corn. He comes across a river and a boat to cross it, but the boat only has enough space for two (e.g. himself and corn, himself and the chicken, etc). He can't leave the fox and chicken together because the fox will eat the chicken. He can't leave the chicken and corn together because the chicken will eat the corn. How can he get across the river? (He can't get off the boat and swim along side.)

Take the chicken over first (the fox wont eat the corn)

come back

take the fox over leave him there, take the chicken back. Leave chicken there and grab the corn.

take corn over and drop it off (fox wont eat corn)

come back grab the chicken.

voila

Not quite that simple mate, how does he know his own mark isn't red?

Several minutes passed, and no one answered. Then, one professor stood up and revealed the answer. He was correct.

What did he say and why?

The only way one of them men can know for sure what colour their own mark is, is if they can see a red and blue mark on the people sat opposite. Then he knows his own mark MUST be red.

Since all the men are supposedly clever the man who stood up would have expected one of the other 2 men to realise the above fact fairly quickly. Neither of them guessed so he knows that neither of them can see the red/blue combination and since there are at least 2 red marks in total his own mark cannot be blue. So he guesses correctly that his own mark is red.

I think that makes sense

Proof that 2=1 but what part of the 'proof' is wrong?

code:
Let a = b a^2 = ab a^2 + a^2 = ab + a^2 2a^2 = ab + a^2 2a^2 - 2ab = ab + a^2 - 2ab 2a^2 - 2ab = a^2 - ab 2a(a - b) = a(a - b) 2a = a 2 = 1

and it's not the first line thats wrong

the problem is in those lines. by choosing to combine the terms of the left side into 2a^2 instead of ab + ab (or 2ab) the line above you have altered the value of the equation and allow the subtraction of 2ab from both sides which should render the terms equal to 0. that gives the false sense that the left side is ultimately one less than the side on the right and making them appear unequal...

i dunno...atleast that's what i think...
