I'm just so glad your so quick to assume my views in the first place, as if I had walked around Cadiz, Sevilla and Monterrey oblivious to the injustice. What I love about the culture and its people is how quick they are to drop instances of the past, social status, etc etc to thuroughly enjoy themselves. Hence the many, many festivals, fiestas, populated in their calendars, which to me as an American may be deemed the ever occuring stereotype as "lazy." I'm an optimist. And the people, whether poor or middle class that I had encountered were as well, despite their condition, which was what truly "expanded my views". That's what I've taken from my experiences. A thriving love of life that shines no matter circumstance. I could learn alot, your right. I still have alot to learn. But don't go assuming that I lack knowledge as to the condition. I've volunteered at a Guadalupe Center here for all those who who are basically helpless in terms of English and job skill. My experiences aren't solely "Hollywood" Here's a book I'm going to start:
My appreciation runs deeper than no, not your 5 years. But at least I've caught glimpses in my travels, classes and volunteering that I can say have changed my life.
