Also I noticed that as the company travelled from place to place it seemed that middle-earth is about 2 squared miles. For examples when they went from Moria to Lorien it took them I think around 30 seconds to get there. I would have liked it more if they showed somehow the length of the journey and how hard it was.
These are all little things, but in my opinion its all the little details that count... Just my 2 cents |
thats exactly what i thought, i think thats the biggest downfall... heres what i said in my first post:
"i feel like the movie made it seem as if everything was near by, it didnt make a good feeling of how far their journey had taken them... for example, it looked as if bree was next door to the shire and like wise with rivendale but in actuallity it was a couple days of traveling for each... it was like that for every place they went to, i think they should've had more shots of them traveling in between places or keep as is but say how many days had passed. there was so much action in this movie it needed some more time in between for you to digest everything. also they could've shown a map as segways to show where they were at, i bet anyone who hadnt read the book had no idea where isengaurd was. but then agian how can you complain at the best movie you've ever seen..."
dont get me wrong i love the movie, and im dying to see the new ones... there was a cool article in Wired magazine written about LOTR it had this part about "Purists vs. Revesionists", i'm a purist but it was cool to see some of the revesionists' points.
i've seen all the "making of" i can... actually there was a really cool one on National Geographic, it focused more on Tolkien himself and the influences around him that probably aided him in writting the book (like him fighting in WW1 and his fascination with languauges and scandanavian lore).
