Having really bad, and unfashionable (really big coke bottle), glasses during formidable school years certainly gives you a sense of humility. "Hey let's go burn some ants with your glasses!"

The first thing a "bully" would do is knock the glasses off, so I really had to learn how to fight without full use of sight. Hit the blob in the center, a least I was never "eye faked out".

I like contacts, the new technology of cosmetic colors and patterns are really wild, nothin' like going to going to a party with "serpent's eyes", or all black (a total freak out!)

as for colours...if u have astigmatism (cant spell) you dont get the luggury of getting to choose from all the cool colours that are out there for contacts..as your choices are very limited.

I cant wear coloured contacts anymore as my prescription is too strong now.

I wasn't aware that colours would affect prescription? How does that work?

Not that it matters to me, since I tried and passed on contacts (just couldn't get them in) but I'm curious to know why. I would've thought they would've made it so it'd just be identical to a normal lens from the inside (ie from your eyes to the world)?

something about my astigmatism being too high...
they only make coloured contacts up to a certain prescription

that's all I know for sure.
it sucks...I really liked my blue coloured contacts

Yeah, damn astigmatism. Biggest pain in the ass. Oh well. Hopefully zapping my eyes with lasers at a later date will fix it :P

I may do it (laser) as a 40th birthday present to myself. By then things should be cheaper.

...the bod' goes it the toilet after 40 anyway

i got laser surgery 6 years ago in 1999. my prescription was -4.00 and -4.50, and i thought it was time to get them. the surgery cost $1200 Cdn for both eyes, and the company that i did it with, Lasik Vision, is now bankrupt. the first 4 years my vision was perfect, but the last couple of years my eyesight has worsened to -1.00 and -1.25. this worsening is a natural part of my eyes maturing and has nothing to do with the surgery. the only after effects i had with the surgery is that my night vision now is a bit worse, where i need prescription glasses to correct my vision.

would i do it again if given the choice? absolutely. surgery gives you freedom away from glasses and contacts. your whole life doens't revolve around your contact lenses.

How old were you when you got the surgery?

And does anyone know if you can go under the knife (as such) again after an operation?

Actually, come to think of it, I'm sure you could, provided you have enough lens (I can't believe I forget the proper name of it) left to cut and reshape...
