As for this whole mail in rebate thing, What really really bothers me is, When you go to a store and you see a price for an item, The price is written in large text and usually in bold and making it seemed that it's the actual price on sale, But then all of a sudden, It's just the price after the mail in rebate. Personally, These kind of things confuses the consumers cause when ever we see a price tag with numbers printed out big and bold, We all think it's the actual price, When it turns out to be just the rebate price, And then written down in tiny form is the regular price, Which is 10x more. This is something commonly see in stores like Brandsmart wheren they put the after rebate prices in big bold text.

I've only not gotten one rebate.

First of all, I only do rebates that are 10 bucks or more. Secondly, photocpy two of you receipt, rebate form and UPC before sending it in; send them a copy along with the originals and keep one. Mail the rebate with registered mail or with signature confirmation. This usually costs about 2 dollars, maybe 3, a small price to pay on, say, a 40 dollar refund.

If there's a problem with the refund, contact them right away as some companies' policies give you as little as 48 hours to dispute. Send them letters as well as phone calls; emails work as well. Keep copies of everything. Eventually, you'll run into someone who doesn't care and will just authorize the refund. A signature confirmation and clear copies of the items do wonders for a company's memory

Don't forget about interest. While they sit on their asses for 6-8 weeks, your money is in their bank accounts collecting interest.

Either that, or they invest the money in the stock market. Many companies actually end up making a LOT of money on rebates.

i doubt the small rate of interest they get from the money before you reclaim it is justified by the cost of sorting out the rebate

i think the only reason is because most guys dont bother claiming, not that they get interest from you.
