fear change

coming from an improvisational musical background, i'm a lot happier with ableton than striaght up vinyl. but to each their own

anyone know what that blue-light-effects-thingy that BT was putting his hand over is? wtf????

Hmm...

That didn't really impress me that much to be honest.
Some bits where clever but I didn't actually think that all of it sounded that good to be honest.

I can also see a trap where DJs (If you can call them that) will be doing too much to the tracks which will get boring indeed.

But on the positive side of this, perhaps guys who really understand music will be the ones who get to be the DJs of the future as there is still a very musical element to it and this is something that a lot of residents don't have these days.

Cheers
Nem

this is the way of the future, bt and many other djs have proved themselves behind the decks, theres nothing wrong with trying something new, which make things easier, and are limitless to what is possible.

For people like me who likes the result more than the way to get it, who cares about TTs dying? Cds taking over, cds dying, mp3s taking over...

(I still hope Rane and Stanton will be able to produce their SSL/FS vinyls =) )

Enjoy the music...

in all honesty, i think the future holds a balanced combination of both worlds. at the moment i use ableton live with rane serato scratch and the possibilities are endless. i wouldnt say that vinyl is dead but i would say that the days of mixing a record in, scratching your testicals for 6 mins then mixing out is dead, and good fucking riddance to it. zabiela is a prime example of a DJ who actually works for his worth, and makes a fucking good job outta it too, whether he uses ableton or not.

and back 2 topic, i thought the vid was very cool.. i wanna know what that little airfx type thing was that made the stutter effect too

I think zabiela is definitely an innovative dj, but some of his sets are just painful to listen to. I understand that the process of what he is doing takes skill, but it doesn't always sound good. Take a great track, fuck around with it excessively, and it becomes a not-so-great track.

Yeah, the opinion in the dj booth used to be - dotn fuck around too much , sometimes people just want to hear the song.

not many others could do what zabs does, but imo hes losing it. i am more and more bored with his sets.

I agree. This is dance music..people need a steady beat. Some of Zabiela's recent sets have these really long, weird FX breakdowns that don't do anything and just totally break up the flow IMO.

Either you have no idea at all about what BT does or you're just being plain silly. It's supposed to sound like that.
