Thank you for precisely making my point yourself right there! A tolerant person will not pick on others because of the nature or breadth of their personal tastes, but will instead let them enjoy whatever it is that they happen to like, without passing judgment.
This is what the group that you are referring to (which, BTW, happens to listen to more than 1 genre) does with you in this forum. Now if you could only extend the same courtesy back... |
Yes, because when people post "ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" in a Sasha thread or "boring prog" or "music that puts me to sleep" they are not picking on my musical taste.
Do I have to go and find these threads and quote these people?
It seems that if I say "I do not like x track/label/artist/album", I get slated, but if anyone else does, its fine and dandy.
The difference being, I dont give a fuck what other people think about the music I enjoy most. Because I love the music, and THAT is what matters.

Well, I wouldn't know about that, since I don't read non-trance threads
So if that's the case, then why not follow refuge.o1`'s advice and take the high road? You can argue as much as you want in the relevant threads, but why spread the hate to others where people aren't bothering you? Who knows... your opinions might end up earning you the respect of those that you would otherwise turn off with too much negativity Just a thought... |
As far as I'm concerned, this is a forum to discuss trance and EDM, and I can say whatever I want. If people get offended they really need to lighten up.
Rez should follow his own advice and not let critisism get to him.
Heres a quick story. I like most genres of EDM. Including Trance, some DNB, breaks, all genres of house, progressive trance, ambient, chillout, and lounge. At the moment I am bored with *most* trance and prefer progressive house/house. That doesnt mean I all of a sudden STOP liking trance I used to listen to. That doesnt mean I ONLY listen to prog house.
Take me and wakadoo (Eric). I hate Tiesto and love Sasha with a passion, he hates Sasha and loves Tiesto with a passion. We get along very well. Why? Because we both love the music we love, and thats where we find common ground. I'm sorry I dont sit here pretending to like everything and posting amazing reviews of every DJ I see kissing ass left and right. I love this music and when I see artists half assing things or getting great reviews when they dont deserve it (in my eyes) I am going to speak up. And I would expect anyone who truly loves their music to do the same.
Me and Eric share more in common than some of those who like exactly the same music as I do.
So enough with the bullshit...if you find my opinions abrasive, tough luck...this is an internet forum, I'm not gonna make G-rated posts so that I wont hurt a few people's feelings...

Your criticism is not justified, though. It's cool if you want to express yourself about an artist or track, but do it in a respectful and considerate manner, otherwise your words will come off as mean and offensive. You're a cool guy Clovis, I have nothing against you, but please be a little more thoughtful about others' tastes and views, that's all we are asking. I could go on and on about something I dislike, but what good does that do? It's just negative energy and frankly a waste of time. Food for thought. Anyway, I retire myself from this thread.
Cheers,
Rez
