sure, no prob- a while ago, there was a thread about g&d playing in dc.. so i posted something along the lines of "i wouldn't go see them if my left boob depended on it." true, i really dont like their music at all but c'mon people.. joke, joke.
weeks and weeks later, dave, who i never ever talk to on IM, sends me this message, packed with the passive aggressiveness that only he can pull off so well: "well good thing your tits dont make a different in the outcome of my career" and by that point, i forgot wtf he was talking about or the fact that i posted it all but since he loves to do searches on himself, he sent me the link to it (if i were him, why would i care about someone having a negative opinion about them? everyone is entitled to like/dislike something and i just do not like their productions at all.) so at first, i hastily posted the convo it online bc i wasn't even sure it was him in fact.. could have been a prank... but then it was obvious it was him and i thought the whole situation was hilarious and so i posted it in the CORe basically making a self-deprecating joke about how dave pwned me w/ the tits statement he started off with. and boy, that really fired him up- the whole screename thing seemed secondary to the fact that i had posted up some of his evident arrogance in the first place.
the *only* mistake i made was to post his IM name so of course, that's the only thing i've been blasted for pretty much. other than that, the thread blew up to a completely different topic- people just hating bc he's an arrogant, debasing prick on the boards who acts like a crybaby and insults people if they dont think his music is good.
on a side note, i can't believe how much it has blown up and it's obvious that dave's thread in the music discussion was not only a way of revenge (which i could really care less about) but just more attention-seeking bc any publicity is good publicity, so he says. |
Interesting... Thanks for the rundown.
I had thought that maybe you had publicly called him a prima donna or something along those lines.
I can see where both of you are coming from, but I can also see how it's been blown out of proportion.
I think it's kind of funny how petty disputes on online message boards often seem to escalate with a snowball effect - but I guess that's just due to people having lowered inhibitions when they don't have to communicate with one another face to face.
Oh well. And as you said, at least Dave gets a little extra publicity out of it. I'm sure he'll cool down soon enough - or maybe if we're lucky, he'll let loose some of that misplaced anger by throwing down a viciously pounding set at Glow this coming weekend.
