actually, sometimes they can work in your favour. If a company is having some promotion contract where you get a good deal for the entire length of the contract, then it's a good idea to hold on to that. A couple of my friends have really old contracts with all these perks that they wouldn't get now, all at a low price.

and then when a better plan/phone comes out within the first year of that contract u regret it .. personally 3 years is too long .. even if u get a good plan lock in for 1-2 years and then go month to month from there

IMO all cell phone companies are crooks and scam artists. Here is a good one on Rogers who false advertise right on their website.

I've been looking to switch to either Rogers or Fido from Telus, since Telus is by far the biggest POS company out there. I've been waiting for a good deal to come around on the Moto Razr, since it will suit my needs perfectly. So I went on their website to check out their phones:

LINK TO ROGERS WEB

and this is what I see:

So I say to myself, wow $249 regular price sounds like a good deal. So I click and this is what I get:

LINK TO ROGERS

Yep, sure enough the price is no longer $249 and hence the scam and false advertising. I tried going through the also, and no where does the $249 regular price show up.

Comments?

you can't get a better plan than having 700 daytime minutes, unlimited evenings and weekends for only $6.95/month for a whole year (regularly $40/month plan)... and that's just the service fee. Plus tax, of course.

What are some of the best plans out there now then? I'm a bit of a newbie to cellphones. Living in areas without cell coverage for 3 years didn't help my case. I'd prefer something more geared towards long distance then local calling. Free evenings and weekends would be excellent if possible (for local).

i think that the 350 daytime and unlim eves/wknds for $40 is the competitive plan right now...although the 700 would be nice...its no longer available.

for long dist. calling ive always thought the calling card was the best way to go. even from a celly

I dont like contracts period, pay as you talk.

telus is sick, you can pay as you talk and get features with the money you buy for your phone..

30$ - unlimited weekends and evenings 6pm - 7am i believe
+unlimited text - $5.00

theres also another feature called after school , i think its 3pm - 5pm its free for 10$

theres a whole list of features u can choose to add. If i had a credit card, i would be set. no hassle

really neat.

but before, i really liked fidos 40$ unlimted local calling plan.

They probably meant that $249 was the regular price of the phone under a 3 year contract.
