There were more than enough facts to diagnose the problem in the original post. If you need to read every word they exchange in order to assist him, I suggest re-evaluating just who here was born stupid.

But personally, I think what will genuinely help him in the long run is the experience of working through the situation on his own, with only the most general guidance. You don't learn to drive with somebody else holding the wheel.
