haha im not comparing them to tiesto etc as musicians... im saying that what they use to play music takes just as much talent and practice as someone who plays an instrument. They aren't musicans but they deserve all the credit they get. music theory is one thing, and most huge rock artists had none of it when they started, much like most djs, and a musical ear is another, which all good djs obviously HAVE to have to get anywhere just like musicians.

u missed my last post about it not being about theory...

most of the DJs out there (maybe 2/3s??) only beatmatch, crossfade and tweak the eq...

this is why i have more respect for amazing producers who dj and those are the ones i go to see cos thats where u find creativity

didn't miss the post..was just saying both need a good musical ear, not theory and training(lessons)

true, thats why most top djs now a days are producers, thats what sets them apart as djs, but theres still guys like halliwell who if u've ever seen live is just crazy what he does, zabilia, sasha etc..they dont really produce anything (the odd thing) and they've got to where they are based on djing alone. im just saying these dj's deserve credit because they are pretty unique and amazing in what they can do, and it takes a lot more than counting to get anywhere near their level.

and as far as creativity... im pretty sure sasha is creative, halliwell, zabielia, hawtin etc etc...just a differnet form, but i appreciate skill on the decks as much as the music coming out of them, so maybe we just have diff ears.

Mistakes- You'll probably make 500 of them but once you've done your time and learned the ropes, you'll understand how to deal with every situation. Ok so the bottom line is ..... come by Beba Lounge and ask around about Tips etc on what to do. Someone will be able to show ya. Oh ya and play for as many people you can at your house partys. Get on out.
