Yeah, but what you describe has nothing to do with the genre labelled "trance" other than it's repetitive, hypnotic nature. I could say that Phuture - Acid Trax is trance because it does a good job of zoning my out over 12 minutes of acid psychedelia, or Plastikman's album Musik, even though it's minimal acid techno... stuff.

Hey my man. You change your signature to "link to FREE PORNO WAVs" and I guarantee you'll double the amount of people clicking on your linky link there. Or your money back.

Well maybe stuff like Enigma, some Delerium, some Moby, some more modern stuff like Ulrich Schnauss and Royksopp (like melodic ambient in a sense) isn't exactly "trance" music per say but definitely puts you in a trance like state after listening to it because of it's ethereal quality that takes your mind away from reality. In a sense it has the same quality that a lot of trance does. I listened to artists like Enigma and Delerium before I was really into trance, but I feel trance music was the logical progression for me when looking for music that had some similar qualities to those artists, just a lot more uplifting and energetic than some of those artists are.

In fact, a lot of early psy trance was like that, and there's still a lot of psy out there that builds incredibly slowly.

Fuck that was an awesome track. Off one of the flying rhino compilations I think? I really loved some of that early progressive stuff like son kite and kopfuss resonator, they had some mad tracks.

I think uplifting is a term that can used to describe any type of music. If people are looking for happy trance they tend to say 'uplifting' just the same as they might say 'dark' trance. Its not really a genre per-se as it is a desription for the musical aesthetic.

I dont recall it being used very much a few years back either. Back then it was just epic trance or trance. There were labels that put out that style of music... platypus, anjuna beats etc, but overall it wasnt a genre in itself. I think any form of trance can be uplifting though. There plenty of prog and psy and even techno tracks that could be termed uplifting.
