Shit year for sure.

Good trance tracks seem to be few and far between. There is still quality there, but it is increasingly difficult to find.

I have found myself turning to techno and house because the quality and consistency in trance simply isnt there.

I have really enjoyed trance in 2005, I wasn't around for Jan-May but after that there have been some fantastic productions, I have been listening to trance since 1998 and have been clubbing since 2002 and this year the music in some trance clubs has been top notch. Had some awesome and euphoric nights and listening to new productions at home is still giving me the pleasure that it always has. I don't really know where to rate 2005 compared to the last 7 years or so but it would definately be above average!

I wouldn't say 2005 has been as good as 99.
But I would say that it has been getting steadily better since the low point in 2003.

Due to the last 2/3 years being absolutely dogshit, and also due to my taste in music changing, i've completely stopped listening to new trance for the past year, or even given it a chance. Therefore i have no clue on whether it's been a good year. Out of curiosity, could those people who are saying it's been great list a couple of tracks that they believe are really that good?

i believe there is a divider line

on one side there are old school trance fans who started listening mid to late 90s and are true to that sound and think that this new trance/prog sound (read: zocalo) is crap

these people believe 1999 was the best
I agree

---

on the other, there are trance fans who started listening around 2003 when 'as the rush comes' came out, and love that new crapola ("NU Trance/prog" as I like to call it) sound...

these people believe 2005 was the best
I disagree

umm... i started listening to trance in the late 90's yet i like the 2003 sound just as much as the 90's sound if not more. stop thinking of theories because its just personal preference.

ok then you're a very rare hybrid
and yes, while it is my personal preference, I've read what the newcomers to the scene say vs what old farts say countless times and I've based my hypothesis on that

now I will write a 5 page essay complete with bibliographies and footnotes
