What a weekend.
The best part of this weekend, and the days leading up to it, was the incredible amount of support I received from everyone. It is really what I will remember about this weekend years from now. My best memory of the entire night is around 10:30pm when the club was empty except for the stage and the bar. The big crowd drew the people away from the floor and onto the stage. And wow the amazing support. Dave Dresden even committed on all your exuberance. “I see you brought your fan club with you.” - lol. If anybody should deserve credit for the getting the party started, it would be all the TAs and friends. I fed off all your energy and gave it my all. When my set ended and the music stopped for a bit, all that cheering really made my night. I really wished someone had recorded that as a movie. There are two pictures I took from the stage as I exited that really captured the moment. Hope to share it with you all soon.
People I like to specifically thank for their help with my set in some way:
Devin (Liquified) – for getting me the gig!
ThomB – my assistant DJ, A&R guy and coming all the way from fucking England
Dan (SlackerBoy9) & Alex (dahippieman) – thanks for the super dope track that I would have dropped if G&D hadn’t said they would play it too
Mario (nchs09) – thanks for the hot fire, sorry you couldn’t make it out
Fong (monkchichi) – dancing like he’s doing mortal combat on stage
So how did I feel about my set? There is definitely room for improvement. The track selection I felt was pretty good. After a few very proggy tracks in the beginning, the pace began to pick up and the cheering really helped. I died every time everyone cheered. Jordan and Kelly were super enthusiastic! To be perfectly honest, technically, my set wasn’t what I am use to delivering. There were some spotty areas especially towards the end when G&D arrived and there was a bunch of movement in the booth. Two things that gave me a hard time was the round bass in the club made it really hard to get super precise mixing and the CDJ-1000s. Something I will work on for next time, if there is one. If not, there’s always Club Scottaculous. The set will be up for everyone to hear soon.
