Not a chance ... north america is still fairly conservative in its drug use as compared to England and Netherlands which im citing since they are the only 2 european countries ive partied in and trust me, the people out there do a lot more drugs but its just that they a lot more peaceful and friendly than the typical guvernment crowd ....

It sets a dangerous precident.

well said my friend!

Not *entirely* true actually... I see your point - however, the period between invention and criminalization was anything but brief.

It's just that alcohol has been ingrained into society since the beginning of time, where MDMA only had something like 10 or 15 years I think... "brief" by comparison but by no means insignificant.

I'm not one to support drug use either; I'm actually rather disgusted by the way so many people deny their dependence on ecstasy and actually seem to take pride in their habit. The fact remains, though, that the "war on drugs" has brainwashed a lot of people but is still a load of crap, and criminalization really does not stop drug use. All it does is (a) create a black market that enables criminals to profit off the drugs and (b) cost enormous amounts of taxpayer money paying for police to enforce the laws and prisons to hold the ones that are caught. It's a colossal waste of resources to "protect people from themselves", which as we all know is just an excuse to curtail people's rights and freedoms.

And yes, I realize that this doesn't have to do with the original topic, but so what, it went off-topic.

Well I finally agree with you.
But if you dislike drug users, then you better dislike smokers & alcohol drinkers as well (since both are as addictive and dangers as most regular drugs).

It has just become more accepted(and legal) in our culture to smoke and drink. But its still the same principle.

You just have to correct everyone, don't you? I remember reading that stuff about MDMA being used as a psychology drug at first a long time ago, I just didn't want to dig the info back up all over again.

And fully agree with your second half of the statement. Decriminalize drugs, and Darwin wins.

I'd narrow down "alcohol drinkers" to "alcoholics", since not everyone who drinks is a substance abuser.

I don't dislike drug users either, I've just observed from experience that many of them don't understand the very real difference between "recreational" use and "habitual/dependent" use. Addiction always begins with denial.
