*looks at set posted in these very forums* yeah he still is good.
news for the newb, but people bashed oakey long time ago when he was one of the top players. jokenfold etc etc etc , so I have no idea why you think its something new that HE gets bashed.
BOTH of them have made huge contributions to the music we love and both have had their time at the top. Both now are at a point where sometimes they care, while others they dont, and while that may suck, they kind have earned the right to do so. *but at that point imo, you should either move on with something else, or try to rekindle that love you once had* |
Z103.5 LOL -- Your putting your feet in your own mouth. Looks like your the one who listens to that station since you know what they play on it. Traffic was good, when it FIRST came out. Tiesto's old productions "Nyana, Just Be, In My Memory etc" all that crap was terribly over-rated. His In Search of Sunrise and Magik albums were half decent, but they were NOT his productions, simply compilations.
Since when did I say its NEW that Oakey gets bashed? I said now he gets bashed JUST as much as Tiesto does. This is for a simple reason, Oakey no longer cares about his career, being famous and or anything in between. He like Tiesto has gone to the top and done it all. As for these people that you say bashed Oakey when he was one of the "top players" well its evident they have no idea what true Trance was. Oakey defined the genre like no other and this is evident especially in 1999 with his 12 world tour essential mixes. When do you think you will ever hear another Gatecrasher? Never. When it comes down to rating a DJ, track selection is where its at. Any DJ can be great technically, but the track selection is all up to you. Tiesto was good then too, he wasn't so caught up in all the fame and marketing. Clearly though they both turned the cheek and realized they don't care about the music anymore, and only about the money. I can't remember the exact year but Paul Van Dyk was much more worthy of the #1 spot a couple years back, where is the justification for his #1 spot this year? Pity? Regardless, it doesn't matter. The entire EDM scene going commercial has helped the scene worldwide but at the same time taken away from the reasons why DJ's do what they do. It's all about the music and NOT the money.
Back to the topic at hand:
M.I.K.E. was and always will be one of the best producers of this time.
