I'm talking about people who know about trance versus those who don't know anything about it. I may have chosen the wrong set of words, but I hope you get my point. Let's consider sex in the 50's versus sex these days. We will pick Elvis Presley as an example. Back in the days he created a huge commotion when he was on the Ed Sullivan show for shaking his hips in a gyrating manner. On television all you saw was him dancing from the waist up. This is because this type of motion was considered sexually explicit for an 'innocent' America. Today anybody can get away with that because people have a more general understanding regarding the difference between a dance routine and something that is obviously erotic.

back in the early 80s i used to always listen to the disco music at teh clubs. Today i enjoy a bit of the music thats comming out. Alot of it is monotonous. But some intresting ideas have developed. Dont let people try to change your opinion, be yourself and enjoy the music you like because it makes you feel good.

I grew up listening to mostly hip-hop. One day, someone took me to a legendary, dark, afterhours club called Sona while some guy named Max Graham was spinning...never looked back since.

A lot people see me as the guy who listens to "techno" all the time. They bash EDM because they think its the cheese that you see on tv and hear on the radio. I made a few friends of mine who always hated on EDM smoke a little something one day, made them sit in my car and made them shut up while i played John Digweed - Live @ Homelands 2001. All 3 of my friends told me this after about half an hour: "WTF man, it's like i went on a journey". Rhe difference between other styles of music and EDM is that a clip of a song does not justify an EDM song. You cannot judge a book by its cover. If you hear a snippet of a EDM song, you wont catch the breakdowns and buildups and effects as the song progresses. People don't see the chnages during a track because they are hearing and not listening. There is a difference beyween the 2. I don't see how it is possible for someone who likes to dance to not like EDM if they actually listened to it. Your body just starts moving, naturally. Someone posted on here that they made one of their n00b friends a cheesy PVD cd and that later on, that peron became a fan. Thats my trick also, give them some cheese, and they will come back for the macaroni...that was a fucking retarded line...i know.

LOL!!! So true! I agree. I get abuse a lot, but sometimes people show respect as well - I addicted at least a dozen people to at least one genre of electronic dance music in the past few years. Those who respect my EDM are people who know me or like me, and I generally get along with many people that I come across.

Yes, this happened to me. I started with electronic music, went into mainstream and came back, permanently. No way back.

yes in general electronic music is an evolving sound that listeners are starting to arppriciate more. but most information about the origins go unheard to everyone to understand the birth of electronic music/music technology. electronic music is what created what we listen to today of any genre because of someones greAT programming skills in 1950!
i think will be a while till people know about true electronic music and then we will be able to see our true PIONEERS of this form.

like you know when you watch a documentary on birth of rock etc. the people who made it a reality. well in a long time we will hopefully see these people in that position giving these people wide public credit.

they deserve it so much, the elctronic music technology goes to much unheard of something needs to be done to educate people about this revolution for people.

remember for people with your i pod's etc imagine if they had not made that sound on a computer. you may not be listening or making music as technology would be delayed.

i think its about time electronic side of music be heard for without being always passed on as a useless conversation and actually think what it has done for people.

the people who grill any type of music in my opinion are very arrogant, music is music so you should atleast have the patience to appriciate a genre regardless.
that seems the way for society now, i wonder if it might be in most people one day to not flam others music because it is cooler or what ever. still there will be songs you will dislike.

IN MY OPINION MOST CAN ARGUE THAT ALL MUSIC IN ELECTRONIC IN A WAY VIA ITS MEANS ALSO!

And yes i do find it hard as someone said before about talking to girls or even boys, its hard to describe where us TA's are coming from music wise. the will find out eventualy as peoples music tastes change so give it time for them to find out, also give them a mix cd of some good songs that you think they may like!
