yes, the last part of the movie had Peter Jackson written all over it (which means good)
No other director today can even come close to making a movie like this. It is refreshing to watch. Heaps of scenes are totally jaw dropping. I actually even enjoyed the start Manhattan drama. You know that when they finally reach skull Island it will be non-stop action. It's a freaken masterpiece.

omg El Salvador is in Central America, right next to Honduras and Guatemala, it isnt even that far from the U.S. Regarding El Salvador being located on L.A., well if you meant it as a joke, sure there are like 1 million Salvadorans who work there and send money back to their homecountry. However, if you really thought it was a country.......do you know what a map is ?

I really, really liked the movie. I went into it with mixed feelings, and a large part of me thought that it was just going to totally bomb. Not the case, in my opinion.
The first hour was slower, but it worked because you sort of got a feel for who the characters were, etc. The whole part on the island was incredible. The tribe creeped me out at first, but what really kicked ass was the scene with all of the bugs and spider-like things. Creeped the shit out of me.
There were some parts during the city scenes that were meh, but I'll admit that I liked the sappier portions towards the end.
